I didn't think it was even 2%. I've been beckoned back to the affluent school district that I graduated from, post retirement from corporate. But I feel the need to be in an area where I can change and enhance young African-American males (ala greater Houston). What the home school district wants from me is to bolster their kids and help architect and develop a hs level comp sci program adjunct w/ the local community college (spoke @ length w/ superintendent/staffers @ comm coll). smh ~40-50 blacks in the entire hs and I know a majority of them won't touch a STEM related class due to how they were funneled from elementary to jr hs. The program would be for the majority kids and that's not where I want my focus to occur. Those kids come from 2 parent-degree'd families and have $$$$ @ their disposal. It's the kids that grew up like me, poor, striving, sincere, hard-working, hunger and thirst for knowledge, that I want to help.
