The Public Elites
NEWSWEEK excluded these high performers from the list of America?s Best High Schools because so many of their students score well above the average on the SAT and ACT.

Newsweek

Bronx Science?New York: Ethnically and economically diverse; specializing in science and math.

I only saw Murrah listed for Mississippi. That makes me wonder about this list because Murrah is far from the best school in Mississippi. (Although, I do admit that Mississippi is not the bastion of education in America. )

I would love to see the success rate for kids who attend these schools versus the schools that aren't on the list. Who cares what kids are taught on a test, but tell me what happen when the state test stopped and the real world came about.

Who says?

Well Oxford is on the list also. It is #1133

*coughs*

According to the criteria, Newsweek begs to differ. #519 baby!

Some kids freeze up on tests like the ACT and SAT but tend to do well in college.

How the heck did LSU Lab beat out other Baton Rouge Schools? Baton Rouge High, Catholic, Episcopal, St Josephs..... Validity is null and void. And the Houston schools that made are nothing to write home about, Lamar, and Bellaire, and Aldine aren't what I would call great schools.

Don't get me wrong, Louisiana is no bastian of education either, but schools in Baton Rouge have alway been on par with the elite schools in the country. 15 peeps from my graduating class got free rides to the Ivy League, and thats a B.R. Public school!
