Why don't you stick to all those songs you "TORTURE" and we'll call it a day.
 
*Note* Very rarely does FAMU drill to a march. We might drill to "Stars and Stripes" on occassion during a tribute show on a week in which we know we wont be seeing another band. For the most part we use marches as conversion pieces during our pre-game show, with the best example being playing "Storm and Sunshine" into "I'm from FAMU" while forming the tunnel for the football team. We generally play "Purple Carnival" and a host of other marches during our conversions during pregame but not to drill to.

Playing marches are great and all but I got a question for you.
Whats the sense of playing marches when bands today aren't high steppin' like in the days of old.
What the H3ll happen to the high lift and the snappy execution of maneuvering???? I feel that the marching itself has got to be as sharp as the musical march you are playing.
What happen to the days that bands use to march.
The tempo is down across the board so where is the high lift????
I just can't stand to see a band dragging across the field with no excitement,....no conviction.

What the h3ll happened???

P.S. to southern,.....I'm lettin' you know right now that I'm gonna use that Burbon Street Swing!!!! :tup: :nod2:

Well I guess the only way I can respond to you is the over all enthusiasm(sp) is mainly saved for the bottom half of the show. I think someone said earlier on this thread that the croud doesn't get excited until the break down and from the looks of it, the bands have the same response. I think the real question is: What happened to bands marching and playing marches?
IN MY OPINION the reason why the march tempo has slowed down is because of the types of music bands are drilling off of. Just hear me out a second. For example, one of the most popular drill songs is "In The Stone". Right? The tempo of In The Stone is slower than the tempo of what your average march should be. SSSoooooooo, in order to keep the groove intact the tempo moves slower. Call it what you want!!! Its just my theory and I could give you one more but I don't think anyone is listening!!! My words may fall on deaf ears!!! But, guess what... It is what it is!!!!!!! :hat:
