City of Jackson to kick off first soul-filled weekend
JACKSON, Miss. —
The city of Jackson has kicked off its first Soul-Filled weekend, with events that emphasize the mind, body, and soul.
After a steady season due to the pandemic, communications manager Yolanda-Clay Moore said the weekend is expected to bring in millions of dollars.
"We've been suffering as far as the pandemic goes and this is an opportunity to just kick off this fall season, football season everybody is excited about football season and what better way than a doubleheader, a SWAC doubleheader," said Clay-Moore, Visit Jackson communications manager.
On Saturday the Jackson State Tigers took on the Delta State University for the WC Gorden Classic. The next day, Mississippi Valley State University will play against Southern University at the Delta Bayou Classic.
