With nearly 1,000 votes, the Highland Home Flying Squadroncame in first place, receiving 29 percent of the total votes.

The Sidney Lanier Poets, who were in first place early on, finished second with 754 votes or about 23 percent. The Frisco City Whippets, whose school closed in 2008, rounded out the top three with 592 votes, or about 18 percent.

The Whippets were followed, in order, by the Alabama School for the Deaf Silent Warriors, the Holt Ironmen, the Arab Knights, the Paul W. Bryant Stampede, the Spanish Fort Toros, the Hayes Pacesetters and the Evangel Christian Lightning.

According to the Alabama High School Football Historical Society, all 11 players on Crenshaw County's football team in 1941 were drafted into the U.S. military's airborne division. When the players returned the school changed its name to Highland Home and adopted the "Flying Squadron" mascot.

An F-16 jet which was used in Desert Storm in 1992 was donated and placed in the parking lot of the school in 2008. The project was funded by volunteers, reports The Greenville Advocate.

I saw this bad boy on the way to Destin...It's down below Montgomery....

That school is a disgrace and a biohazard. They need to build a new one on site. The district needs to be sued if they put another soul in those buildings.

My old school, Baton Rouge High, was having classes at Lee for the last two years while they were remodeling and redoing BRMHS on Government. Lee is an eyesore, but with the possibility of Woodlawn and that area pulling out (which was defeated) EBR was trying to have space for the kids who wouldn't be able to stay at Woodlawn.

The mold spores that I saw on the roof in the gym killed me to see...:shame:
