Doug isn't the brightest but he is smart enough to surround himself with a smart staff. Pete did this at one time, but they have left for greener pastures. I give Doug credit because he has gotten the job done.
Talent among the top programs in the SWAC is pretty even, but smarts among the coaching staff isn't.
Gram has all four phases of football covered (offense, defense, special teams, and coaching). I will put them up against anyone in I-AA. I've only seen a tape of one of their games and highlights of the rest, but they are a smart team. If they play with their heads against SU and not their emotions, they may win the Bayou.
I've had a chance to watch NC A&T a couple of times this season and they are well coached. I don't feel they have the talent of a Gram or the special teams, but they are a pretty damn good team.
Look for some new head men in the SWAC next season.
