The last time Landers was QB....

no PV isn't loaded across the board.....we have to shore up our wide receivers and quarterback position. I'll put the running backs among the top 3 teams though

My definition of loaded: (SWAC West only)

1. Strong QB Play/Depth - GSU, SU
2. Running backs - GSU, PV, UAPB, TSU
3. Wide Receivers - GSU, SU
4. O-Line - GSU, PV, toss up among the rest

SU doesn't rank in all catagories so how can I go out on a limb and say they are loaded?

He said pv was loaded at the RB and O-Line position... :retard: :retard: :retard: :retard: :retard:

Because, Tolbert and Ewards has plenty competittion at WR and Abney is big and tough enuff to play at TE.

Your return a guy who missed out on a 1,000-yard season because he sat one game out and put him behind a line that's nearly 2-deep with no seniors.
The back-up running backs could contribute just as good so we can't say we're loaded.

Typical SU, spouting off at the mouth before facts are presented :rolly:

:lecture: How dare you question those sound stats. They don't lie. According to the stats, Alcorn should have destroyed the SWAC. The Braves were first in both categories.

On Landers, I'm not quite sold on him. He's not horrible, but he's no Eugene and sitting out a year doesn't mean he will be any better this season.

Besides having him at tight end to match him up against linebackers in the passing game, I have to believe his hamstring injury after the 2003 season has something to do with him playing the position. He missed the entire 2004 season and then 3 of the first 4 games of 2005. After missing those games, he caught 6 touchdowns in 5 games.

The point that everyone is missing is that Launders doesn't have to be great with the talent around him, he does however need to be at least good. People forget all the negative things that happened to Gram and Spears in their first year together. Not only did Bruce get hurt, but his top two receivers were out for the year before the season even started. Jason Hatcher was hurt that year. Many of Spears top players on defense and transfers were ruled inelegible. In the games against UAPB, Alabama St and even Jackson State the games were lost in the fourth quarter. How much can we expect from a freshmen quarterback? Let's be real, the only expectations you can have with a freshmen qb is that they will improve as the season goes on. Which is exactly what Launders did in 2004. Now I would expect Launders to be more prepared to play in 2006 then he would have been in 2005 had Bruce not gotten hurt in 04. There was a reason that Launders won the SWAC freshmen of the year award. Let's not forget that.

The last time Landers was QB? He lead the G-Men to a victory of SU. What a great feeling that was.

^^^^^^^

But, ALBSU goona be 2-9 in 06, thst was a good COle, LC cole team.

Landers has so many weapons and grasp of the offense. He proved his nerve and nuts as a true freshman. Second game of the season and he's blitzed unmercifully by A&M. He hung tough! Showed his grit the next week in the Ohio Classic against BCC when he lead us to a comeback win.

Edwards, Tolbert, Abney, Bridges, will make it tough for teams to load up the box... That matches Ab Kuaan on the linebacker. I like that against any team in the SWAC.

SU is not loaded.

We don't do drugs...never had drugs...never seen drugs...don't know nobody with drugs.... :lmao:

Be realistic dudes...we ain't got nobody returning? We only started freshman and sophomores for a reason.

People have short term memory loss.

'04...SU defensive line decimated due to early injuries.... Any fool with sunshades :smug2: could have known that with a huge O-line and a set of big RB's would eventually wear down such a team. Keep the ball out of an opponent's Senior QB's hand and force them into a passing game while pinned deep in their own territory.

'05...SU defensive unit too young and inexperienced to win close games and offensive sets simplified. By season's end, some O solidifying came, but too late. Defensively, kids played probably one of the better games of the season as a unit. Two dropped INT's could have made the difference.

Basically, very, very young and inexperienced teams were thrust into early action. Redshirts and props waddled in and out. Uncharacteristic play calling by coaches even added to some doubts.

That was then. NOW? Healthy...we're solid. Key injuries...like anybody else...we return to the middle of the pack...but NEVER the bottom.

We have talent. Overall team speed has increased twofold. Demons at key positions started emerging at last season's end...too late? Ahhhhhhh...I say ain't no such thing as freshmen and sophomores for the last three games unless they never played a down.

MikeBigg...you know some of these kids. It ain't no secret to you.

On paper? We will be a force to reckon with. On the field? We'll see...soon enough.

...and for the record....I like Spears. He ain't no dumb bell (no pun intended)! :D

Abney will not be returning at TE. He only played the position last year to get on the field after coming back from injury. It was the only position he could play. Plus, he had picked up some pounds too.

With the depth at WR it might not be a bad idea to slide him at TE in some formations. With Bridges possibly working the slot...... Lord had mercy on the rest of the ignorant folks who think Gram is going to fall off this season. :flamethro
