Please continue with your pre season allegories of championship dreams......you will be awakened this fall with a SU boot in your arse because:
Here come the reinforcements.
Southern, lacking in experience and depth in going 6-5 last season, will have 34 newcomers arrive on campus from noon to 5 p.m. today.
That group will have orientation and physical exams Tuesday, then practice Wednesday and Thursday. Veterans report Friday, with the entire squad starting two-a-day practices Aug. 13.
"That's what hurt us last year was the depth," SU coach Pete Richardson said. "Also, a lot of them whom we were counting on became Prop individuals. Now, they've gotten a little bigger and stronger, and they're excited about playing. They saw us play and know what to expect. We're going to put them in some places."
Indeed, 11 of the newcomers are from SU's 25-man signing class in February of 2000. That's as many as will arrive from February's 22-member class. Plus, there are six more sophomores who are eligible for the first time.
Included in that 2000 group, and now eligible as sophomores are: cornerback Cedric Gross (3A All-State kick-return specialist), offensive lineman Jermaine Jackson (4A All-State honorable mention) and defensive end Johnny Pool (three-time 1A All-State).
Southern will also welcome eight transfers, including two who signed in February. Three players were with Division I-A schools last season: defensive lineman Travis Dorsey (Southern Mississippi), offensive lineman Daniel Leon (LSU) and running back Leon Miller (Michigan State).
Uh ooooooohhhhhhh Here come the JAGUARS!!!!!!!!!
Great MESS, please have that Championship trophy shined and ready to go for the BC, cuz the SCG is just a preliminary step!!!!
