It's not the first time Trump has activated the National Guard to quell protests. In 2020, he asked governors of several states to send troops to Washington, D.C. to respond to demonstrations that arose after George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officers. Many of the governors he asked agreed, sending troops to the federal district. The governors that refused the request were allowed to do so, keeping their troops on home soil.
This time, however, Trump is acting in opposition to Newsom, who under normal circumstances would retain control and command of California's National Guard. While Trump said that federalizing the troops was necessary to “address the lawlessness” in California, the Democratic governor said the move was “purposely inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.”

- Agree with Olde Hornet and Herbert77060. Initially, when trump cut DEI/Programs, he thought Black People would riot in the cities/streets, that would have given him/repubs, the reason to call out those states national guard on Black People. Black People did not take the bait. For those People of Color that still don't get it ( Project 2025 ), trump wants all People of Color out of the USA.

We understand that. The point is let them go out there and do all that fighting and getting gassed in the street.
We have to work smarter and in other ways. One of those ways is finally dealing with the black folks who sat the couch or are FBA and all that other mess that who keep screaming Democrats are the issue. Yet continue to be silent with MAGA.
We know they will try that mess with us and actually HAVE tried it. Yet these black folks still scream Democrats are evil.
They have already started taking children in Los Angeles. One kid is here in Texas and nobody know where he is.
True, a majority of the Latin men voted for Trump. Their women went for Harris in the majority. However, it is not just Latinos, Arabs and Muslims who are getting caught.
It is not just the FBA crowd. Some on the left only or mostly (nearly 100%) go after democrats. They are not like the old Black leaders and activists from the1950s, '60s, '70s and '80s were. I have rarely seen them go after republicans. It makes me glad that those like Birmingham's Angela Davis are still living and still have a sound mind.

NOBODY goes after the Republicans. That is the major issue.
It's like they ignore them and then want to cry to DEMOCRATS to save them.
Harris predicted that Trump would send military folks against US citizens. The Hill's Derek Hunter went off on her for that in 2024. Harris was right and guess what-Hunter's past articles are no longer on the website. He still has ZERO words for GOP.
There are those who go after republicans. Thom Hartmann, Sam Seder, Eddie Glaude, Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes and Will Bunch are just a few. Hartmann goes after Ronald Reagan on his program almost everyday and has also done so in books (like Screwed) and columns. (Bernie Sanders, who appeared on Hartmann's program went after the GOP often as well.) Bunch of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote a book, Tear Down This Myth, which goes after Reagan. Roland Martin has gone after them as well.
Now, I have had some problems with the democrats, especially its leadership. One may think that the ones (some leftists) who maybe the most ideologically opposite to the GOP would attack the GOP early and often. Yet, I do not hear or see the criticisms of the GOP from them. Then again they may criticize the republicans often. I just am not seeing it or am seeing very little of it.
