Sadly it should not be. Trump is the offspring of Sarah Palin and the tea party. The nuts, just like LGBT, have been working undercover and behind the scenes to build their power for years. While we have been sagging and twerking they have been working. These people play the long game, but we get mesmerized by shiny objects.

Jan. 6 takeaways: Extremists and 'screaming' in Trump meet

At its seventh public hearing, the Jan. 6 panel is not only detailing the plans of extremist groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers ahead of the attack, but is keeping its focus on what was happening inside the White House at the time.

A CALL TO ACTION … A CALL TO ARMS'
A major focus of the hearing is Trump’s Dec. 19 tweet about a “big protest” at the coming joint session of Congress: “Be there, will be wild!”
Florida Rep. Stephanie Murphy said the tweet “served as a call to action and in some cases as a call to arms.” She said the president “called for backup” as he said Vice President Mike Pence and other Republicans didn’t have enough courage to try to block President Joe Biden’s win at the Jan. 6 joint session.

The tweet “electrified and galvanized” Trump’s supporters, said Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, especially “the dangerous extremists in the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys and other racist and white nationalist groups spoiling for a fight.”
Raskin said Trump emboldened the groups around a common goal. “Never before in American history had a president called for a crowd to come contest the counting of electoral votes by Congress,” he said.

11 House Republicans attended a White House meeting with Trump to strategize about overturning the election results on January 6. Six of them later asked for pardons.

The January 6 committee offered new details on Tuesday about a meeting at the White House that involved several Republican members of Congress ahead of the meeting of the Joint Session of Congress to certify the 2020 presidential election.

According to Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy of Florida, a member of the committee, the December 21 meeting was part of an effort to "disseminate his false claims and to encourage members of the public to fight the outcome on January 6."

Vice President Mike Pence, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and Rudy Giuliani were all in attendance at the meeting, along with President Donald Trump.

At the meeting, the members discussed election theories pushed by Trump personal lawyer John Eastman, who believed that Pence was able to singlehandedly rejected slates of electors in his role presiding over the joint session.

In reality, Pence's role was simply to count the votes. On Tuesday, the committee aired footage of Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone declining to contradict the idea that Eastman's theory was "nutty."

Exclusive: Trump’s Lawyers Think Mark Meadows Is Going Down

Trump’s inner circle increasingly views Meadows as a likely fall guy for the former president’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Members of Trump’s legal team are actively planning certain strategies around Meadows’ downfall — including possible criminal charges. Trump has himself begun the process of distancing himself from some of his onetime senior aide’s alleged actions around Jan. 6.

Meadows’ already bleak legal prospects could get even worse. Rolling Stone has learned that the Jan. 6 committee has been quietly probing his financial dealings, and any new revelations would add to an already long list of unethical and potential illegal actions he’s accused of taking on behalf of Donald Trump.

Fox News Legal Analyst Says Jan. 6 Hearing Revelations ‘Should Disturb Everyone’

https://news.yahoo.com/fox-news-legal-analyst-says-222204335.html

Following another slew of incendiary public revelations by the Jan. 6 committee, Fox News legal analyst Jonathan Turley told viewers that the revelations were “breathtaking” and “disturbing.” All of these details should disturb everyone,” Turley added.

Turley specifically addressed an “unhinged” meeting between Trump, White House officials, and Trump allies scheming ways to salvage an election victory for the president. The committee displayed a text message from Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide who testified publicly last month, describing the situation in the West Wing as “UNHINGED” as the meeting took place.

Turley wasn’t the only guest to consider Tuesday’s hearing notable. Neil Cavuto referred to Trump as “unstable” before asking former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Tom Dupree if the people close to Trump were engaging in “illegal, criminal behavior” by pushing to keep him in office. Dupree responded that the “people giving him this advice were coming pretty darn close to that line, if not going over it.”
