I just finished watching CBS Top 10 Football teams ever. The whole time I wondered where Grambling fit with all its great teams and NFL players. CBS went as far back as the Notre Dame's four horsemen.

I'm a baseball man, SO I pose this question to you football buffs and historians, name the 10 best teams ever in BCF football.

What about the JSU teams with Walter Payton, Robert Brazill, Jackie Slater, Vernon Perry, etc...

When I started the post, I was taking into account the best teams ever as CBS did. The majority of the CBS teams were undefeated, had defeated opponents by an average 14 or more points, had several (in some cases 7 or 8) NFL future NFL stars, and/or had a season that put the college on the map.

Some places i was able to find pre-1960 records. Here are some possible candidates in no partcular order:

Tuskegee 10-0 (1926),
Tuskegee 11-0 (1930),
Tuskegee 12-0 (2000),
Southern University 12-0 (1948)

Grambling State 9-0 (1942) "In 1942, there were 67 men in the college, and 33 were on the football squad. The Tigers had a 9-0 record; they were unbeaten, untied, and unscored on." Collegefootball.org - Eddie Robinson

Let's understand that before 1970 most of the best Black athletes were at the HBCUs. This includes the north as well as the south.

Prairie View 9-0 (1964) Lackland AFB W 27-16, Jackson State W 36-13, Grambling State W 22-14, Texas Southern W 16-13, Wiley W 39-13, Arkansas-Pine Bluff W 31-13, Bishop (TX) W 28-14, Alcorn State W 44-0, Southern University W 60-14

Then future Super Bowl heroes Otis Taylor and Jim Kearney were a stars on the team. Then future pro football hall of famer at safety Ken Houston was on the bench as a reserve linebacker.
