In January 2002, The Jesse H. Jones Business School of Texas Southern University was accredited by AACSB International. This process started for receiving re-accreditation began under the leadership of then Dean Priscilla Slade, now President of the University.

AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.

Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor?s, master?s and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting. Its founding members include Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, New York University, Northwestern University, The Ohio State University, Tulane University, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois, the University of Nebraska, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Texas, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Yale University.

As of August 2001, the 405 accredited institutions consist of 391 in North America (382 in the U.S., seven in Canada and two in Mexico), seven in Europe, three in Asia, one in the Middle East, one in Central America and two in South America.

The AACSB International membership consists of over 650 U.S. educational institutions, 185 educational institutions outside the U.S. and approximately 50 corporate and nonprofit organizations. AACSB International U.S. educational institutions annually award over 85 percent of all U.S. degrees awarded in business and management education. The AACSB International U.S. accredited schools annually award over 55 percent of all U.S. degrees awarded in business and management education.

It is something that we all should be proud of. Another HBCU Business School attains a good seal of approval!
