I would put both of those shows with any of the ones of today! and you could tell dem sum bytches was in good shape!!!

What happened to that? This is the type of showmanship we need to go back to :(

I was in the lockerroom on that show. I get to see it after 28 years. Damn Big Red (head majorette) I bet you still fine.

The Ocean was a monster back then. They were SU's sister/brother band. We spent a lot of time with them cats. Always a great battle between the two. Especially with Butler and Doc being best friends in the band director world and A PHI A frat bruhs. Both put on great shows against each other. This was 83 the year before I got to SU. I see my frat bruh Scrappy Doo from Mobile leading the TxSU DMs out there on this clip.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about!!! Those were the days ol JD was in rare form. We was "Pushing the Button" and all kinds of fun with the Jukes back then..."When Doves Fly"....all hell yea...lotz of singing entertainment!!! Ocean of Soul was the band to be respected, too! They kicked entertainment to a whole different level when it came to participation! Can we just go back to those days???

JD what years were you on the yard?

83-88..did the part time thing! Stayed in the Villa summer and fall of '83 on the second floor down the walk from Juke "Boss Hogg" and crew. His son was playing football last year, but he told me that he left the team. We were the crew that threw the biggest "toga" party the Villa ever saw!!! Fools I say...we were FOOLS!!!

LOL. I remember all that. My LB Reginald Syas from Lake Charles stayed in the Villa back then too. It was off the chain. Now it needs to be torn down. SMH.

But yeah we had some hyped folks back then on the yard. Remember the Daiquiri Shop? I still remember those AA parties and them fools wearing their toga's all over campus before the party. A lot of folks forget the SSSS SSS SU chant was started by a Juke from New Orleans. My crab bro on clarinet was in a talent show in 84 and kicked it off and folks been chanting it every since.

Wow I didn't now that I thought Gregory D created that chant lol.

It was Eric Turner (Juke) and his homeboy from New Orleans who did a rap at a talent show on the yard and it just caught on and took a life of it's own.
