They’re spending a lot of money to not care!
Spending it where? That's the problem, paying coaches top 2-3 salaries when the blocking sled is unusable. Spending money on all the wrong things.

Spending money on salaries instead of infrastructure.

Tell me when hbu and incarnate word had a probation shutdown, scholarship reduction, etc. better yet do they have a stadium to play in already within the past 10 years.

Someone invested in the program to take care of little things - they can recruit white kids to fill in the gap our swac schools struggle and they have swac alums sons On their teams whose parents wouldn't send their kids to their own schools

Someone said pay folks big money and wins will happen and that started a bad precedent tsu is on now

Look at it like this - compare tsu to just other swac schools before we even bring Southland up

If I'm a football recruit and recruited by the following 4 schools below this is what I'm up against.

What does PV has TSU doesn't?
What does Bama State has TSU doesn't?
What does SU has TSU doesn't?

If you can't even compete against your own league in amenities why are we having this discussion? Coaching will only win you so much without the major things.

Texas A&M has everything and still complains they need more facilities to stay relevant. They're about to demolish a 10 year old Indoor track for a brand new indoor fb only practice facility
You contradict yourself in this comment.

I see you know nothing about HBU. Read my comment again. They had no Facilities, I compared tsu to schools that were below tsu then zoomed past tsu. Both HBU and Incarnate Word's HC's salaries combined is probably less than McKinney's.

The tsu probation was a decade ago. I'm so sick and tired of excuses.

TSU has made bad decisions after bad decision when it comes to football.

Some people really struggle with accountability, don't be those people.

TSU has a top 4 swac athlete budget as I already mentioned. So if tsu is not up to par it's tsu's fault. How can one justify paying an unproven 1st time HC the highest salary in the conference?

He's may not be the highest paid now but he was when he first signed his deal.

Your point of view is fatally flawed. Their are so many programs that do wayyyyyy more with less.

How many IN THE SWAC are doing more with less? Hardly any. The winning teams all have something to brag on. You probably live in a white or upper middle class neighborhood in a nice house - you ain't living in the hood with your family or having your kids at the hood school - amenities matter in 2022

You're entertaining I must admit.

So everyone from the hood who has less should just resign themselves to where they are? Oh okay, right; right gotcha; gotcha...

So is it safe to assume you still live in the hood because you grew up in a single parent household? Your schools didn't issue ipads so you gave up.

My only limitation is my own mind. So yes, I do live a very comfortable life. But excuses were not tolerated. I was told I had everything i needed and to find a way. Had my first business at 13 (I has 15 yards " mostly single moms" paid other kids from the neighborhood to do most of the work). Had a truck at 15, car at 16. So yeah Fugg your excuses, tsu needs to find a way.

So if you can move up and live in a better community surely your TSU and it's student-athletes deserves the same as the field house ain't gentrifying anytime soon cause it's the same one you went in on campus - make it happen

Can't reason with insanity.

Check out South Carolina State's facilities. They just won the bowl last year. Your argument is dumb and has been disproven many times. But believe what ever you want.

I've been to SC State - they have better then TSU -
I'm sure you have. I bet you have had private tours of all the facilities in HBCU sports to be so sure how everyones facilities compares to tsu.

I'm going to back you into a corner now.

How exactly does tsu's facilities get to be the worst in HBCU football when they have one of the highest athletic budgets?

Makes sense, I wasn't given instructions either so you're right there. I wasn't in the best hoods growing up and I started a lil business too, I'm old so my business was building CB radio antennas when I was 12 and selling them to my Dad's CB radio friends. I didn't go to the store and get nice parts, me and my step brother rode our bikes to an old motorola place and jumped down in the dumpster and got parts out of there and cut up the parts with a hacksaw and put coils on them to make them the right electrical length for the 27 MHz band that my Dad's friend taught me the formulas for, so yes you have to figure it out. I had a $150 purple thunderbird at 15 that I bought from doing work cleaning the Royals and Chiefs stadiums, you can't just give up and wait on somebody to save you, you have to fight through it even with less resources.

I understand exactly what you are saying. The thing with tsu that no one wants to address is how did it get so bad when tsu has a top 25% budget? See how he conveniently ignores that question?

Some people are conditioned to be victims. Trying to reason with them will only leave you frustrated after wasting time you can never recover.

Once again as clearly obvious in each of his statements their is zero accountability.

If anyone in here has a well paying job with zero accountability please share with me your line of employment. Thanks in advance.

Shiiiiid, they will come for you. Our whole IT support department just got let go and replaced by an outsourced company from you know where because they were getting too far behind on support tickets and a customer survey was very unsatisfactory, if our schools could make people do there jobs it would propel us past the PWIs

Bubba McDowell, Prairie View Dominate Texas Southern at 37th Labor Day Classic

On Saturday night, rookie head coach Bubba McDowell's Panthers offensive and defensive lines bogarted the TSU Tigers' lines into submission to claim a 40-23 victory over Texas Southern.

Prairie View, TX — In college football, either you dominate or submit. On Saturday night in Prairie View, rookie head coach Bubba McDowell's Panthers offensive and defensive lines bogarted the TSU Tigers lines into submission in the trenches.
Prairie View's 40-23 victory over Texas Southern in the 37th Labor Day Classic was an overwhelming performance.

The Panthers' offensive line made a statement by opening holes for QB Trazon Connley, RB Ja'den Stewart, and RB Ahmad Antoine to score touchdowns.

"Very dominant," Bubba McDowell glowed while reflecting on his offensive line's performance. "We hav some [running] backs. We have some big boys up front, they're 300-plus [pounds] across the board there. We knew with this rain coming in it was going to be very hard to throw the ball. So we was going to rely on that running game. Those guys up front did what they're supposed to do, as well as them backs."

if our schools could/would make people do there jobs it would propel us past the PWIs

since you asked - yes

I've seen every D-1 HBCU facility

there's a reason FAMU, Bethune-Cookman & North Carolina A&T and Hampton dominated the MEAC past 20 years

there's a reason Southern, Jackson State, Grambling State and Alcorn to a degree have had success the past 20 years

I take it your a smart fella - if money is not allocated for facilities doesn't take a genius to figure it out - an athletic budget encompasses way more than just that

There's a reason Prairie View has remained consistent despite 3 head coaching changes since the stadium/admin building opened in 2016 - before that they were up and down

There are reasons TSU has not been competitive some of them include.
1.) Haywood was a terrible hire. He was out of coaching too long and couldn't then and can't now get a coaching job at a H.S.
1a) TSU - gave him a million dollar contract.

2.) McKinney is even worse. A second coach no one else has even interviewed for a H.C. position.
He has the most antiquated offensive schemes that he places blame on the players when they fail. TSU made him a millionaire HC when has had never been anything more than a position coach. Except for 2 games under K. Sumlin. He was promoted to OC and was demoted right back after 2 games.

Think that could have a little impact on the product tsu has been fielding?

go back even further to Lionel Taylor - all coached in the same building

Since 1976 - every coach at TSU has been fired - no one has left on their own

Not to be in y'alls business (lol) but for PV it was really reinstating scholarships that made the difference moreso than facilities, IMO. Since reinstating scholarships, PV went 9-3 vs TSU while having the worst stadium in the conference. We won a championship during that time as well. Now granted we've gone 7-0 vs TSU since the stadium opened but it seems like TSU has something going on internally. You have a decent budget and all things considered, a sweetheart deal to play at BBVA. Sure, its not on campus but you also dont have to worry about the cost of maintaining on campus facilities. Making the right hires matter. Look at Valley. They are trending up because they have a guy who fits. On paper, TSU should not be having the same output as Valley over the last couple of decades.

Thank you, I'm sure you don't realize it but, you are strengthening my case of poor management.

You hired a coach that fit finally as TSU dominated the series when PV had scholarships before the 80s - Frazier left and TSU wins 2 of 4 against Northern even though TSU was on life support due to probation for 6 years - Haywood should've won the 2016 game and had a decent first season but he dropped drastically his final 2 seasons - the same AD who hired Frazier never had a chance to make that same hire at TSU as the probation handcuffed him

Thank you, I'm sure you don't realize it but, you are strengthening my case of poor management.

Just ask a coach who worked there what they need to succeed outside of money

Go have a seat please. Who do you think hired Haywood? Haywood did good his first year because he had Asberry's players. When he has to get his own the talent level dropped. Which you can't say is facilities. Asberry had the same restrictions and facilities. To clarify, the same person who hired Frazier at p.v. went out of his way to hire Haywood. He was able to move on to greener pastures before the Haywood debacle came home to roost. So no accountability because the person who made the hire is no longer at tsu.
Then the previous President decided to be A.D. for a day and hired McKinney. Now that person is no longer at tsu. So again, no accountability. The powers that be need to let people do their damn jobs so their can be accountability.

Your at an hbcu - presidents will always have an input on a football hire - but let's go back even further - you had an AD who hired Steve Wilson

Are you serious or have you just been trolling the whole time? Six of the last seven coaches, interim or otherwise, were brought in without influence from the president's office.
