Houston, TX-Texas Southern’s new football head coach has signed his first class as a Tiger. Head coach Darrell Asberry signed 14 players so far, and he says they will be expected to play now.

“We are bringing in a good group of kids both academically and athletically,â€￾ said Asberry. “We believe they will fit in with the nucleus of players we already have. These are not red-shirt players; they will be expected to contribute right now.â€￾

Here is a breakdown of the new Tigers. Eight of the 14 recruits are from Texas. Four are from the Houston area. We have 10 offensive players and three defensive players.

We will update this list as more recruits become available.

Pretty small.....in size.

You can bulk up a kid. I rather have them a little smaller on the OL and then add weight. Than to get a 300 plus cat that can't move well and still eating up everything. On the interior of the DL then you want to have some 300lb guys.

JR, I'm looking at the RBs and WRs. And even the DBs. And yeah, you can bulk up a kid depending in his body structure and genetics.

In the SWAC, you don't have to be a 6-5 330 lb Guard to be successful. We're not playing against the Tay Cody and Fletcher Cox in this league. I'll take a guy 6-2, 265, put 10 lbs on him and teach him technique- footwork and leverage. We're not trying to get guys that we can put in the NFL. We need to sign players who will help us win.

It'll be even more interesting to see Asberry go up against Doug when they play Grambling again. I know DA is prepared this time. LOL
