Texas Southern kicks two key players off the basketball team

A week ago Texas Southern’s basketball program was preparing for the return of one of its stars. Now it appears it is ready to say goodbye to two solid contributors.

Both Trayvon Reed and Lamont Walker have been “sent home” according to reporter Meschach Sullivan.

Reed represents a big loss for Texas Southern in every sense of the word. The 7’2 center from Mobile, AL was averaging a near-double-double with 10.1 points and 9.1 rebounds in 23 games this season.

Walker wasn’t as heavy of a contributor for TxSU, averaging 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, but he did have some solid performances while Trae Jefferson was suspended last month.

Overall, it’s been a season of promise doused with disappointment.

Wow. I'm not sure where the heads of the younger generation is situated. This revelation made me INSTANTLY think of 2 young men, physically gifted, but their heads... total basket cases, imho. The lure of "thug" has them in a choke-hold. A great opportunity @ a great institution of higher learning like sTu and they simply piss it away. It should always be an honor and privilege to attend an institution of higher learning. smh

How sway?

I knew it wasn't Jefferson because he tweeted about being at Valley today lol

To me the season is pretty much over ... I'm already looking to 2018-2019. They lost to Grambling at home, thought I would never see the day. We always beat Grambling, even before Davis. That pretty much sealed the deal .. I'll still be watching and supporting but I'm not expecting to win the big games

He was gone for about a week before he got back on the team.

A great opportunity @ a great institution of higher learning like sTu , I like that positive reinforcement

This is madness because being a college student is the best time of your life and I hate to see people mess it off

They don't understand the game of musical basketball chairs will end very quickly. Where will they be left standing. Too many of these young men ending up life at round 25 years old with their best dayS behind them. "MADNESS"

Or participating alongside at-risk teenagers in an HBCU grad’s Outreach Program 3 nights a week. I stay sick of preaching towards “young adults” over the last 26 consecutive years. smgdh The focus was intended to target teenagers.
