Texas HS set to begin work on $60M stadium

Sienna High - new school in Sienna Plantation off Highway 6...paves the way for Hightower to become a black school and Elkins will suffer

Ridge Point High School... I don't understand why they need this school just about 2 miles from both Hightower and Elkins.

FBISD caters to neighborhood developers....the district is minority now but they developers call the shots...

the next school will be in this area called telfair off University Blvd. and Highway 6 or Aliana off the Grand Parkway and 1464

that was Quail Valley Middle School....it reopened....the few whites there still are holding on to that area hard as they can't get what they paid for in terms of home values...

Fort Bend did this..

Missouri City High (closed, turned into middle school)

Dulles - whole district went there

Willowridge - split the district in half, opened up as an all-white school but became the area where blacks moved to...became FBISD's most successful school until jealousy

Clements -hurt Dulles

Kempner - hurt Clements

Elkins (off Highway 6) - hurt Dulles real bad...but the district began to favor them as they rezoned 4 neighborhoods 2 miles to Ridge and they competed right away

Austin - hurts Clements

Hightower - killed Elkins and first school with academy so they attracted kids from everywhere....Teal Run starts to grow (before sub-prime mortgages) and negroes who thought they were too good for my area ran out there

Bush - designed to move the blacks who moved from Alief into one area off Westheimer and away from Austin....became a good basketball school but football sucks

Marshall - built to appease black parents who thought Willowridge wasn't good enough for them.. a waste of time as the school never grew and too close to Willowridge

Travis - damn near in Katy of Grand Parkway.....

Sienna High - new school in Sienna Plantation off Highway 6...paves the way for Hightower to become a black school and Elkins will suffer

Look at that list. I didn't even count the Ft. Bend schools on the right side of Hwy 59 closer to old SugarLand like Kempner and then FB Austin. I remember when they opened up that school when those new homes went up.

LOL at the Teal Run deal. I built my house out in that neighborhood on the Teal Briar Village side in 95 and sold it in 2000 when I moved up North. I see how things are TOTALLY different than when I first moved there. It was a more mixed development when I got in there then the blacks steadily moved in and the whites ran out of there as fast they had bought houses in there. LOL.

I always thought it was crazy to build Hightower so close to Elkins. Then when they started building Siena Plantation, I remember the developer telling me that one day another HS would built in there. I was like:retard:

You are right about how those developers are though. They are school building happy in Ft. Bend. I know the area grew, but not enough to build that many HS. Marshall made no sense to me. I guess they thought Willowridge had become too ghetto. Oh well. Whenever I do get back that way. I can't see myself living in that same area. I used to think Siena Plantation was the spot. I don't know now. LOL.

Allen High school is currently 10th through 12th, and school officials simply continue to build onto the current school.

Exactly! My daughter will be a 9th grader at the Lowery Freshman Center in Allen next year. We will be fortunate to enjoy that nice stadium for a couple of years. :)

Wow, they are light years ahead of us in Louisiana.

I think BR is similar to the Ft.Bend situation with all of the high schools. We have about 14 public high schools in EBR. 3 of those schools pulled out and created their own independent school districts. Now BR is becoming Charter school happy, and the area schools are getting smaller and smaller.

amazing isn't it JR.....whites left when we got to my neighborhood and the trend continues off Highway 6 but all of that area by Teal Run suffered overnight as if you drive out there by that Winfield Lakes area on Trammel Fresno, it's a crime how they've robbed folks with those row houses and then you got little Mexico right down the street

with the Ft. Bend Tollway and the Beltway we finally have some retail in my old area and we're only 12 miles from Downtown and can get there 5 different ways...put people think we're too "hoodish" :emlaugh:

Number 1...Charter schools have killed Houston ISD also...you got schools with 500 kids now

Not just black colleges, but colleges in general.....

But like TBF said, if you can put it in a bond you can get it done without educational dollars.

I agree.

McKinney will get jealous and try to outdo them shortly lol. Last I heard they were still in the planning phase for 2 indoor practice facilities. I'm not sure what the pundits were proposing for their actual fball venue.

One thing's for certain, it will get even harder to recruit kids from there when facilities may become an issue. :read: (thinking on that WR from Allen that went somewhere after txferring out of La)

BTW, this is a nice stadium: http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=299

It is already an issue and has been one for years. It will become a bigger issue.

You had a mega school in Fort Bend named Willowridge but the powers that be broke that up overnight.....now the school has 4A numbers and another school 3 miles away who can't grow also...

In Houston, they don't believe in mega high schools...as soon as an area grow....new school

Exactly. That's why there's never been any powerhouses here.

:smh:...lil did they know, they'd be producing two ghetto schools...

Po'Willowridge. I just :smh: when thinking of the possibilities. If Willowridge had any parts of Allen's "privacy"...we'd be on sum'n positively different.

From 5k+, and in bad need of more room and temp buildings...to less than 1500...:smh:
