Maryana Naumova, the 13-year-old powerlifting phenomenon who can bench a whopping 240 pounds, isn't the only teenage lifter catching the public's attention. Pilot Point High School senior Matt Poursoltani is another young weightlifting prodigy who is shocking people with his incredible strength.

He already had a lot to celebrate when he set a personal best bench press of 670 pounds at a regional meet in Ponder, Texas. But he took on an even heavier (literally) achievement at the State Finals, where he and his team were aiming to top the 700-pound barrier at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association meet in Abilene.

"I call Matt the freak show—what he does is spectacular, better than anyone else in the country. People's jaws just drop when they see him," says his coach in this behind-the-scenes training video.

Poursoltani is a 5'10", 270-pound football player who decided to concentrate on lifting after suffering a knee injury. “When I tore my ACL, I didn’t have anything else to do, so I benched every day. I had to do something; it’s all I had,â€￾ he said according to Reporter News.

What do you mean naturally kendrick? Surely Everything gnc offers is not off-limits eh? :read:

I think this kid followed tx hs fball protocol.

By naturally I mean no steroids, HGH or other performance enhancing substances. I doubt this dude drinking protein shakes and downing creatine to aid in his results.

Besides there are several products found in the local GNC that are banned by NCAA and several professional sports leagues.

But he's in hs though kenfolks :D. The only thing the uil bans here are steroids non-prescribed. It's highly competitive here so one has to have an edge :D.

They do have certain things that they can't take even though you can buy them at these type of stores.

 Really... This is why the bigger, faster, & stronger hs students live in north tx and the scrubs dwell around that houston area . Excepting katy & twhs. I wonder why those two excel and the other hss don't compete too well on the gridiron :read:? Hmmmmmm... If one ever played lol or competed against others here, you would easily understand. Otherwise, you have no choice but to make an assertion.

I advocate health & nutritional education via gnc et al coupled w/ great strength training. I smell hate and envy from a few :emlaugh:.

Weightlifting is not a UIL sponsored sport, so it isn't covered by UIL drug testing rules.
I'm not aware of what the uil governs outside of fball and bball. What I'm tripping on are individuals commenting who never in their life benched anything above 200lbs and never strength trained in their life so surely they wouldn't understand the time and crafting it takes to build a bench towards that +200 goal :smh:.

But we're not discussing someone benching just 200+ or even 300+ lbs. This is 700 pounds. Almost half a ton.

I was 5'10" 227lbs at my peak strength and bench max'd 390lbs. I've known several upon several over the yrs who did likewise, even today. It's not hard when one is focused and sacrifices in the gym. You or I are not there to witness this kid's workout regiment. So, why assume something is awry when you've never even visited a gym w/ free weights in your entire life??????

:emlaugh:  :lmao:

The fact that I've spent a lot of time in the gym helps me KNOW that 700lbs is on a whole other level than 390. Also, I never said the kid used 'roids. I just pointed out the fact that he isn't subject to UIL testing rules.

You're speaking to a very naive audience consisting of tx residents who must use google to even know where Pilot Point is located. Pssst...hint, it borders Point Blank, tx :retard:. *sarcasm*

Better brand and more competitive hs sports lives in ntx.

What was your max bench press j4l? What hs in texas did you letter for and how many years did you letter? lol Also, what was your position on the texas hs football team? :D

According to various stories, this kid increased his bench press by 130 pounds in one year. Is that possible even with a rigorous training regiment?

Don't forget the shirt... the shirt helps A LOT! If you've ever been in power lifting you know what I'm talking about!

I have seen those country boys wrestle full grown hogs to the ground like it was nothing. I don't doubt what they can lift. I have seen the cats move transmissions from one side of the place to the other without a lift, and these were the ones with guts and out of shape, so I don't doubt the ones who work out aren't that strong.

Urrraaaaaaa....*off the tspn record*

"You can do it if you take the right supplement(s) coupled w/ the right training routine(s) I would think." - Panther88 :D

*back on the tspn record* :D I don't think it's rocket science to acquire mass/strength w/ proper nutrion and training.
