Tennessee State to host Southern in the 2011 John Merritt Classic

JR, Lewis

Looking forward to hanging out with you, get here early enough, perhaps we can enjoy some TN BBQ @ the house.

TP, you need to stop. True, TSU would perfer to play SU than A&M. Don't be surprise if we [TSU] drops A&M and rotate between SU and *&^%.

On another note, some of you clown continue to make comments about TSU being in the OVC, first of all that’s old news ‘get over it”. There are some that wish TSU was in the SWAC, not going to happen “get over it” finally, how many of the SWAC Schools are willing to step up [you might have one or two] to the plate and play EKU, Jacksonville or EIU.

Call their AD

GSU – TSU, the game in Las Vegas was “how many years ago [eight years ago]” in the past, stop living in the past its 2010.

Nope...gonna talk about how we whupped yall azz "last time" until yall get back on the schedule. : )

That’s old news. The truth is both conference schedules are full with conference games. If would be nice for Eddie and Big John to renew their long lost relationship. You know the Big Blue don’t back down from anyone despite of the last four years with Webster (Bell Jr.) we are on the rebound, it may take another year, but we are on the way back with a new coaching staff and attitude.

I know the entire SWAC attended Wednesday night bible study praying for JSU; well this year will be the same as the previous years. You know me and I “aint” trying to start something, but just want you to know “for the record” there are a few JSU and PV Alumni starting a rumor – that is JSU is gonna get in the GMen’s butt come September 18 and the PV Alum is saying the same on September 25. So what’s up with that? The sad part is two from A&M are saying by the time October 2 roll around Gremlin will not have enough players to play Pop Warner Football.

Because of the past relationship between TSU and GSU I tried to defend GSU honor - In the words of Snoop “I told dem fools” the GMen will beat JSU like a pimp beating his “H”

Don’t let me down.

Encouraged by the strong turnout for their inaugural event, Silver Dollar promoters said they would like to be back in Las Vegas. Athletic directors from Grambling and Tennessee State said their schools received $150,000 each to play in the game.

We have had this same discussion for the past five or are it seven years. Who is the HNIC of JSU, is it the miracle worker from Tuskegee, well doggone he was suppose to be your savior the day he arrived on campus.

I understand JSU have a QB [on parole] is that true, I guess JSU has been recruiting at the Big House for players. Looking at one of your SWAC Partners [A&M] had a QB name Mason a local player from PC. One or two of Dem dowgs was TSU website bragging how Mason was going to run and throw TD. At the end of the day without saying a lot, they lied. Being the person I am, to tell you the truth, A&M scored only one TD the other one was a welcome to Music City USA gift.

I will admit, JSU and TSU always play a close game, with the exception of the game in 2001 when TSU dropped 64 on ya.

Shannon Harris threw for 360 yards and seven

In the words of JSU favorite Son

I've never seen a first half like that, not since I've been coaching. I've never seen anything like it."

Robert Hughes

I think it was you, Robber and myself setting together on JSU side. Needlesstosay, I felt threaten at first, then right at home when the JSU faithful realized the game was over by the end of the first half.
You will love this, after the A&M game, I was eating at Shoney’s and a few of the A&M faithful entered the place an looked at me and a friend. This one gal look and turned her head, that wasn’t right. So a female friend said “what is wrong with her, is she mad because A&M lost.”

I don’t want the same attitude from dem JSU folks.

Let me explain something to you. Some programs that are not up to par do things to improve. Props to SU for firing Pete, AlaState for bringing in Spears, Comegy for firing Woody, Broadway for getting rid of Spady, TNState for getting rid of Webster...

Now do you see where I am going with that...AAMU was not mentioned. They sucked last year....barely beat the worst JSU team in history not coached by ****. I thought AAMU would beat ya'll becasue I don't think you did MUCH to improve either but I am not surprised AAMU lost. They are sorry and they did nothing to avoid being sorry this year.

JSU is ready. JSU is gonna tap that azz. JSU is gonna drop yard after yard and point after point on you. If you are not much improved from last year, you don't stand a chance....bring on that blitz. You will regret it!

Come Dr. H stop telling that lie. TNSU sucks. You are the sorriest team on our schedule. The only reason you won is because Jones game plan sucked. You will not beat JSU or win more than 4 games at the most. TNSU fans always show up once you beat us, but the last four years you haven't been around. Believe me TNSU needs us more than we need them. Also you talk about being giving a gift, man please the refs gave you two touchdowns. You know that was not a pass interference call. Your O-line held all night and not one call was made. JSU defense is going to rip you apart. I will go on to say the score will be 48-7. JSU defense is going to score 21 points alone. Watch what I tell you.

You need to get out more, TSU made a 100% improvement, by firing Webster and hiring Reed. In fact, Reed should have replaced Cole. But, Hefner, thought Reese would make a good coach “OMG” what was going thru his mind.

Speaking of A&M, they are ok, but they are not the best in the SWAC [period], especially if they are banking on Mason to read then to the SWAC Championship. He’s ok, but he’s not as good as they think he is.

Cee

Face it, TSU could have easily scored 40 on A&M and the only reason they did not, was due to the fact that the D changed. You really need to stop smoking that (*&&* it’s against the law. So out all of the year’s TSU & A&M has played the only thing the folks in Normal has to crow about is the past four years. What about the games dating back to 1935, do I need to remind you of the scores? But, that’s not necessary, because that’s in the past. However, I guess you are old enough to remember 1973 (54-21 TSU).

I guess now you are swinging on JSU Nutzs, since TSU denutted the Puppies.

If the truth be known, TSU has only two true rivals in the SWAC, that being JSU and the GMen and maybe SU.

Austin wants home-and-home series

Alabama A&M athletics director Betty Austin said she would love to continue playing Tennessee State, but she wants the series to be more of a home-and-home affair.

Since the two schools renewed their rivalry in 1998, seven of the 11 games have been played in Nashville, including four of the last five. Saturday's game was supposed to be in Huntsville, but Austin said Tennessee State athletics director Teresa Phillips asked if A&M would come back this season and she obliged.

"We like playing Tennessee State, but we want to play them home-and-home," Austin said. "Teresa and I have spoken about that. Hopefully, we can get it worked out. It's been a good relationship.

"(A&M) Coach (Anthony) Jones like playing Tennessee State and our players like playing in the Titans stadium and it's a good trip that our fans can make."

According to Wallace Dooley, assistant athletics director for media relations at Tennessee State, the Tigers' schedule may be full for next season.

In addition to seven Ohio Valley Conference games, Tennessee State will host Southern in the John Merritt Classic, play Jackson State in the Southern Heritage Classic in Memphis and will play Florida A&M in the Atlanta Classic at the Georgia Dome. This season, the Tigers are playing North Carolina A&T in the Circle City Classic and could be invited back to play again next season.

Don't try to imply that TSU is just dropping us...The decision to play or not to play will be mutual...Both teams have other geese to cook next year.

Trust and believe, I would love, and I mean LOVE for Tenn St. to be in the SWAC, but we all know that will never happen anytime soon. I remember we marched to the president's house (student body) and inquired why we don't play a full schedule of HBCU's like ourselves, but TSU is all about the money. They would rather play other HBCU's in Classic games, instead of it just being a regular home game. I remember back in 02 or 03', when we played 6 or 7 other HBCU's, and that was totally unsual. We played FAMU, PVAMU, SCSU, JSU, AAMU, and i think GSU in LAs Vegas, that schedule was tight as hell. Oh well..............

TO be honest, bring back PVAMU, I enjoyed playing them back in 02'...... Better yet bring in Texas Southern, so it could be TSU vs TSU, damn make it interesting, hell bring in ALCORN.... I enjoy playing the SWAC school better than the MEAC schools... just my Opinion.....
