US Department of Education RankingThe US Department of Education's Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System contains information on all 7,316 officially-recognized institutions of higher education in the United States. The following is a list of the 20 largest institutions of higher education by "12-month unduplicated headcount," meaning it is the number of unique individuals who enrolled in at least one class during the 12 months of 2009. Whether a system of individual campuses is counted as one or multiple institutions depends on how that institution is accredited and chartered. All data can be verified on the IPEDS system website.[1]

2 Community College of the Air Force Multiple Campuses (Headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama) 324,573 Yep! at some point most if not all Air Force Officers have to come through Montgomery. I just didn't know the number was that high.

Less than 10 years ago, the University of Texas at Austin had about 46,000 students while Texas A&M-College Station was at 43,000. In engineering UT-Austin was at 4600 undergraduates while Texas A&M had 7200. As one can see it is more students in their respective engineering programs than at most HBCUs.
