T-Shirt Advice: Arrest Black Babies Before They Become Criminals
Date: Thursday, January 27, 2005
By: Walter Higgins, BlackAmericaWeb.com

A Los Angeles-based company known for controversial t-shirts has sparked criticism about a shirt some are calling racially insensitive to the plight of blacks.

Black web forums and chat rooms were buzzing earlier this week about the Arrest Black Babies t-shirt, created by TshirtHell.com. The shirt, which depicts a black, pacifier-sucking infant in handcuffs, reads ?Arrest Black Babies Before They Become Criminals.?

Maybe it's time that we develop a thick skin and learn to overlook some of these things. We have always and will always live in a racist society. Can't keep on crying over spilled milk everytime we see something "racially offensive"

I have to agree. I have come to the realization that some people do things simply because they know it will be controversal. I think people would be better off ignoring the t-shirts.

Get them where it hurts...by becoming their boss! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZSYYYYYY85US' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_7_9v.gif' alt='Butt Kisser' border=0></a>

There is disclaimer posted that this was COMEDY only. It's not like they are focused on AA only. They spark controversy about EVERYBODY--the all white bread Olsen twins, Hitler, Britney Spears, etc.

I agree, we definitely need some thicker skin 'cause that "hypocrite" dermal layer is definitely our weakest link. :smug2:

I agree with NN. We can laugh all night long at Dave Chapelle and some of the things he does. Don't get mad when someone turns the tables.

It's really cynical humor.Cynical humor touches on weaknesses of anything. To me what the TSHIRT is saying, Hey why not just arrest all Black babies for NOTHING since the justice system is arresting a large number Black males anyway. Sometimes though some of our people are a bit to insensitive.

I was dissappointed that FOX cancelled Eddie Murphy's The PJ'S because some Black Folx thought it did not depict Black people in a positve light.

Can't get upset when crackers make up this kind of garbage for t-shirts, and then attempt to justify why it's ok for us to call one another the "n" word in rap music and street language.

I came across that shirt on the Internet, and I laughed and kept right on growing. That stuff doesn't even get to me.

I was more offended by this Tee, if anything, and I'm not even Jewish.......
