"Swing and Sway", was JSU's marching style under Dowell Taylor, where did it originate?

If I am not mistaken that style was done under Haughton as well, so it is older than Taylor's era. Maybe SLT, Staggalee83 or Bengal E can elaborate.

didnt it come from michigan? or that was 8 to 5? i may be wrong about both though...:read:

?Swing and Sway? is when you feel the groove and you are confident that your performance is ERROR FREE! It also means swinging left to right with the upper part of your body and moving your head in the same direction. This requires hours of practice and being consistent, making sure that the entire band is on one accord. Don't forget to shake your plumes! Ha! Ha! CHAIR!

Yes, it was done under Haughton's era also.

Is the history of Taylor all some of you know?? :retard:

I wasn't in school during the Payton/Jackie Slater era, but dag, I do know about it....

LOL @ Soror. Forgive them. Most of them are too young to go back that far. Alot of them think the Boom history starts with Taylor. They have no idea about Prof Davis and Haughton.

BTW,
What you know about the Payton, Slater, and of course Robert Brazile era at JSU?

Yeah, I know Frat, but dag....all you hear about is Taylor this and Taylor that. As if he started the Boom... Well, at least the original poster inquired and wanted to know where it started at JSU...

Man I know about all those dudes including Coach Bob Hill.....:D

Michigan is "kicking on eight" like Michigan St. Michigan actually doesn't have a rock or "sway". Neither did the Ocean, just a bounce to the left or right with the horn. JSU doesn't accent like Michigan or Michigan St.

When are we getting rid of Liddell again. No one likes him but Crit.

I just don't have any PERSONAL beef with Doc. There are things that I would like to see the BOOM do better on (like the rest of ya'll who are always batching), but some of it doesn't solely fall on the director of bands.

that is before liddell time! back when bands was funky, and played REAL music!

Right!

Jared is our JSU historian.
Put JSU or the BOOM's name in ANYTHING, and he'll surely come running!

You was saying the same thing I just said this past year.....You know they ain't marching, it don't take no historian to figure that out...
