Offense: D. Mason - AAMU
Defense: J. Harris - UAPB
Newcomer: I. Crowell - ASU
Specialist: B. Wenzig - ASU

Coach A. Jones - AAMU

Says he is proud of the effort of his team. Says Alcorn is capable of beating his team...has an explosive offense. Said he will not allow his team to take Alcorn for granted.

Coach R. Barlow - Bama State

  • Says Greg Jenkins didn't play as well as he could have, but did enough to help get the win against Texas Southern.
  • Said every game for his going forward is a "one game type season deal" where the rest of the SWAC schedule is concern.
  • Says they have added more plays to give I. Crowell more success in running the ball.
  • Says Jackson State's Clayton Moore will have to be accounted for if his team is to have success against them. Said defense will be key.

Coach Jay Hopson - Alcorn State

  • Says the fake punt was all about switching momentum for his team after SU had a number of big plays.

Coach Monte Coleman - UAPB

  • Is pleased that J. Harris was named defensive POW.
  • Is pleased with reduction in penalties from the last game.
  • Does have some concerns with his run defense. Says its something they will need to work on during the open week.

Coach Doug Williams - Grambling

Says he didn't buy into the preseason hype about his team, but didn't expect to be 0-5 at this point.

Says there is no QB controversy. Says D.J. is the starting QB.

Says that Skinner is the starting RB going forward.

Says the general mode of the locker room is "good" despite the 0-5 start.

Coach R. Comegy - Jackson State

- Moore will get the start at QB this week against Bama State.

Coach K. Morgan - MVSU

- Says his team was disappointed with the outcome of losing homecoming the way they did. Is still trying to keep up his team's spirit.

- Knows Grambling will be coming looking for first win. Will ask that his team stay focus.

Coach Heish Northern - Prairie View A&M

- Team got off to a good start with the opening kick return for a TD.

- Says there are some plays that will need to be sent into the conference office for review (regarding calls made by the refs).

- Says Johnta' Hebert suffered a severe whiplash. Did not have a concussion. He made the bus ride home with the team.

Coach Dawson Odums - Southern

- Says team just didn't make enough plays at the end to finish the game with a win.

- Special teams play will need to improve.

Coach D. Asberry - Texas Southern

Has concerns about his lack of offense.

Says they will likely focus more on the run going forward.

Says he can't "beat up on the defense". Offense needs to "pick it up". Has to do a better job of establishing the run.

Coach Doug Williams - Grambling

Says he didn't buy into the preseason hype about his team, but didn't expect to be 0-5 at this point.

I didn't expect it either

Says there is no QB controversy. Says D.J. is the starting QB.

Cool...but I personally think Rivers gives us an option to run some zone read stuff to help us score points. We need points on the board.

Says that Skinner is the starting RB going forward.

Good Back... hard nosed, high school "beast", NFL size! Would suggest still using all other backs on Roster...Especially find use for Runner as receiver and runner.
Any word on Roberts... miss his breakaway talent! We need points!

Says the general mode of the locker room is "good" despite the 0-5 start.

Okay...would prefer being 4-0 in conference and the mode be "great"...good is for other schools

Mike Bigg is glad he's a Yankees Fan!

Is that all he had to offer? That we'll be switching QBs for the 4th time this year.

LMAO come on now 99 you know how it goes. Starting Moore will eliminate all the turnovers. Crack down on all the undiscipline play (minimize penalties). Eliminate the sp teams Woes. And improve the tackling on defense. We shouldn't lose a game the rest of the season, Comegy's the man *sarcasm*.

We are doing a lot better minimizing our penalties.......the first 4 games we were averaging at least 10 penalties

UAPB vs Tenn St UAPB penalties = 6/46
UAPB vs JSU UAPB penalties = 4/25

Glad to see the (penalty) numbers decreasing but we still need to work on control.......

And good job Jerryan Harris on (Defensive) POTW! (3 solo + 12 assists = 15 tackles)

B.Anderson (QB, UAPB) 30 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT
D.Beverly (WR, UAPB) 3 Rec, 23 yds, 1 TD
D.Jenkins (RB, UAPB) 24 carries, 154 yds, 2 TDs

:)

I hope Coach Coleman practices the team really hard; Lord knows we don't need to get lazy, especially considering who we'll be playing after our bye week! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!):|
