SWAC Teams Which Never Made The NCAAS

First of all the person who started this thread was doing it to be funny. So in short I take it as smack.

So why worry about the past JSU...yall better be worried about Friday when them Gators got yall by the balls. I mean I would love yall to kick their ARSE, but realistically....man yall just as much of payday as GSU is to Pitt this year.:emlaugh: Thanks for the $25K.

DSN, no and no.
No, I wasn't smacking when I started this thread, just curious and no, I think it's $250,000 dollars, not 25,000 that JSU will be receiving from the NCAA.;)

We have to split it among the swac teams right. Or do we split it amonst the 8 teams who made the swac tournament?

Frat, every SWAC rep has not been blasted. SU played Duke respectable just last year and they were a number 1 seed. TxSU was free throws away from sending your homeboys from Arkansas to a living hell when they won it all. JSU and SU teams in 93 did the unthinkable........they won their first round games in the NCAA and NIT. And even in the second round after being down by 10 in the first half. SU played George Washington and 7'2 Yinka Dare even for the rest of the game. Not to mention the scares Alcorn put into folks back when they went. When I was at SU we played respectfully in the tourney with current Mavs coach Avery Johnson leading the way. So the SWAC has not always been drubbed in the Tourney. Florida is good and sure they are the defending champs, but it isn't like they are invincible. Hell they may just be ripe for an upset. On paper.......yes they should beat JSU by more than 10-15 points. But you just never know what might happen.

Good Post.......to add Alcorn won a tourney game.

I was talking to JR(homeboy). He know exactly what I'm speaking about.

Any given Sunday......

I figured that was what you were speakin of. LOL. In that case on Any Given Saturday. The ironic thing was that was the only loss that season for ND who went on to win it all.

Yep.....my point exactly.....anybody can suffer a loss at the hand of a team that is NOT expected to win.

Go JSU! :)

Hampton upset Iowa not to long ago. When Hampton went up them boys from Iowa were so confused that they were losing they couldn't get their minds back in the game. It's not called March Madness for nothing.

That year we played the Razorbacks, we were expected to lose big. Like the year before when we played them and lost by 70 points. We had Nolan about to cry that game. We lost but we ran hard with the National Champions.

Great post. As someone said Alcorn has won in the NCAA tourney in the past. I would also like to add Mississippi Valley State near upset of what was considered an invisible Number 1 seeded Duke team in the mid 80s. Valley led for most of the game. Dick Vitale was going crazy. Duke was rattled but finally wore down Valley for an 85-78 win. I still remember that score from heart because just like Florida, Duke was supposed to roll with ease to the FINAL Four.

I guess the ironic part, in my eyes, is the fact that these are the same people who would be saying the same thing everyone else is (too big, too strong, too fast) had it not been THEIR team playing in the game.

When PV went in 98, we said IF they can get LaFrentz in foul trouble, IF we can get to Paul Pierce, then MAYBE we could keep it close enough for an upset. We all know how that turned out.

Don't get it twisted. I am definitely behind JSU and hope Trey can will them to a win. I just, IMHO, don't believe it will even be close.

We looked like a jr high team out there. Those Kansas guys were very damn good (quicker, bigger, stronger, faster, could jump higher, etc). We knew what we were up against. Too bad TSU folded in the tourney champ game.

I hope JSU has a great showing like I want us to have a great showing against north cacka-lacka.

Hey MB, tell me more about this,please..
Boy, it seems as if yawl just sit back and wait for an opportunity to rag on Grambling. We never claimed to be a Basketball school. We don't live in this fairy tail woeld trying to fool ourselves like we are a basketball power..... Yawl can have basketball every year if you want it. When was the last time basketball made any significant amount of money for you athletics budget? As for su, okay you beat GA. Tech, let it go!!! The basketball world doesn't even remember that team. The only reason it is mentioned on here is because we are black, we went to HBCU's, and what happened that day rarely happens!!! I guess you have to resort to hoop dreams since your football team has posted back to back losing seasons. What was your basketball team's record this year? How is track and baseball going? Who gives a fcuk!!!:lmao: THE SWAC IS A FOOTBALL CONFERENCE, WITH GRAMBLING FOOTBALL AS ITS CLAIM TO FAME AND HOUSEHOLD NAME!!!!

Truth hurts some people. As I said earlier, the SWAC representative to the NCAA only means you are the best team in the worst basketball conference in the nation. That is why we get feed to the #1 team every year.

It is truly not an accomplishment.
