Take away the run...... from SU???? :goof: There was no running game to take away. If anything, they woulda DARED you to run. Y'all didn't have no run last year, and you're telling me their game plan was to take away the RUN from SU. Dude, y'all took the run away from yourselves.

Dahill,

I understand why you are so supportive of A&M program but come on.... Kelsey is not in the same league as JC and Nelson. Lets look at last year stats...

All three led the league in being sacked (JC -- 28, Kelsey --28, Nelson --35) so they all played under pressure but Nelson and JC has a higher QB rating, JC made better decisions with less interception, Nelson and JC threw for more yards, and Kelsey clearly had a better offensive line for the run than either of them. So Kelsey should of had the option of a very effective play action passing game because of A&M strong run success, which should of led to higher completion rate but he is less than Nelson and far behind JC.

It comes down to decisions on the field and Kelsey is a good QB just not the best in the league.

Kelcey outplayed BOTH of them in head to head games... Kelcey BEAT both of them. Also.. last year is last year. That was Lukes first time really playing in 2 years. Nelson just had a game where he completed 30% of his passes. Honestly could care less about who has the most passing yards...Kelcey has more rushing yards than MOST teams starting running back. The pass plus the run equals a complete package qb.

Kelcey didn't play against either one of them ... he played against their defense. When you look at how they played against everyone's defense JC and Nelson performed better. Nelson had a bad game last week and I hope he has another one this weekend but I expect him to play better. Since QB are not measured on the number of yards rushing... it is pass completion, percentage, rating, interceptions, and finally rushing yardage with sacks being a deduction. The majority of the rating are by far based on pass criteria... not running the ball.

I'm glad you said that.

Also, y'all keep bringing up so 'n so threw for more yards. So what? How many "W"s did that aquate to? Did Brandon Landers throwing for more yards help Gram win their season opener against Hampton? Now you all are starting to sound like the Grambling folks last year argueing Bruce Eugene being better than T. Jackson.

Let me suggest this; while you're looking at those stats from last year, notice where your rushing offense is ranked (SU and MVSU); notice where your offenses' ranked. SU you will see your offense ranked below AAMU's. If you have a solid running game, you don't need to pass pass pass. Kelcy Luke is "Mr. Efficiency" himself when it comes to making decisions with the football. He makes better decisions.

JC is still the best passing Qb in the SWAC period. Nelson and Luke may be more athletic and add the running part of the game to their arsenal. But you can't argue with that. JC's accuracy does not go down as he attempts more passes. He was 17-22 for one stretch of the game. We'll see at the end of the year who stats are better. I don't want to hear about wins and losses from last year because it was not that kids fault his team couldn't keep him upright or that his defense was poor. I never seen a Qb have those kind of stats on a losing team that only played 9 games. Obviously folks outside the SWAC are taking notice of his play. Folks just don't like his style because he aint running like Mike Vick or scrambling around like a Randall Cunningham did.

So like I said before in another thread earlier this summer. If it makes folks feel better SU don't have a good Qb..........Luke, Landers, Nelson, Oliver, Hobson, the kid at TxSU, UAPB's Qb, etc. are all better Qbs than JC. No need to even argue the point. Alot of you on the board can play Qb better than JC enough said.:shame:

I tell you what if JC had Luke's running game last year and like Richard had in 03 it would be ugly. Why must Luke be better than Nelson or JC? Because your team was better? Well I guess Albert Lee (SU's R-Fr Qb) is better than LSU's Ryan Perriloux since Lee's team in HS beat Perriloux's twice with Lee at the helm. Funny the college scouts didn't think that way.

PLEASE prove it. Sometimes yall nigs just talk to hear yourself talk... Im not saying he is the BEST qb in the SWAC.... but he is the most dangerous qb in the SWAC. He can beat you in two ways.

SU Jag just doesnt know what the hell he is talking about... The South Carolina transfer qb from TN State is better than JC (IMO). ALL JC showed me last year is that he can "hit da flo"

Man, everybody knows that A&M is "deficient" in the passing game. That's why I said "Kelcy" didn't beat us last year. Your defense and running game did that.

And traditionally, Tenn State is a running team. If they changed this year, great. Maybe y'all should take the hint. Anyway, it may not matter by Oct. 7th.

The Big Payback .... Part II .... I know you guys remember Part One after taking one in Huntsville.

And all JC has shown so far is that he can pick apart a pretty good defense.

he didn't look good against TnSU and if he can't get by Grambling this week, you can quiet this noise.

QUOTE]

How did he not look good against TSU... when had only had FIVE incompletions... completed 72% of his passes... and rushed for over 70 yards... 3 total touchdowns.

Mind telling me what happened in the first half then when you guys were behind?

72% of his passes ..... How many did he throw .... Hell, If I only throw ten times and complete 8, hey, I did better than Kelcy!

The main point is Kelcy manages the game good enough to let his running game and defense win it. JC goes out and steals games, at least so far, because in part that he can and in part because he HAD to.

Both of the QB's are good .... one for keeping things close enough to win and the other for snatching the win from his opponents. We just happen to think JC is better.

Luke is the best QB in the SWAC. Just a neutral observation. Look at his W/L record and compare them with other conference qbs. I've seen all the qbs except Oliver at JSU.

1. Try to divert again.. he threw 18 passes... 6 fewer than Lewis. What do you mean what happened in the first half... We were never down by more than 7 points... and to be exact we were down the ENTIRE game until we took the lead with about 6 minutes left. Im not sure of the question you are asking. We had 400 yards of total offense.. we moved the ball the ENTIRE game. Scored on 4-5 red zone attempts.. had a field goal blocked from the 4 yard line on the other one right before the half. You are confusing me here.

Why would you say A&M is "deficient"... it is because we dont have to throw the ball 40 times a game? and yes Kelcey did have a good game against SU last year 12 for 16 170 yards and also ran for 50 yards...

Second TSU has a transfer qb from South Carolina... that can throw.. so NO TSU is not a "running" team.. and why do we need to take a hint? We are winning ... You need to take a hint and get SOME type of running game. JC aint proved he can pick apart a good defense because he aint do **** last year against AAMU.

What are you talking about? Kelcy was 10-14 for 108 yards and 1 TD at halftime. We also had 106 yards rushing. Kelcy only passed the ball 4 more times during the 2nd half. He could have torched TnSU passing, but they couldn't stop our running game so we just pounded them and took the lead back.

What kind of passes were those. Who can't throw a play action pass when the wr is wide open. Luke is good in AAMU's offense but would suck in SU's. JC would shine in AAMu's offense just like he does in SU's.

Again, you're still doing it. Talking just to talk. FYI we didn't do a play action pass. That shoots down another one of your arguements. I can explain to you all the imcompletions Kelcy had in the 1st half. One was a TD pass that was dropped, and we had to settle for a FG and the FG was blocked. We had all types of passes. We threw long, we threw short. TnSU couldn't stop it. As long as TnSU couldn't stop the running game, whats the purpose of passing bombs downfield?

Mr. SWAC,

Why are you still arguing with Philstone Walker and The "Spinners?" Don't waste anymore of your valuable time. Some of these folks got more spins than a top!

Do you think Luke could run SU's offense as effectivly as JC.

Luke runs an offense that is BETTER than SU's ... so he would have to downgrade to run an SU offense as effectivly as JC.
