Actually, its' setting up for a hot week ahead.....
AAMU plays JSU Saturday and if PV wins Thursday and Saturday night along with JSU and AAMU winning Thursday, the loser between them will be 3rd while the winner will basically wait for the outcome of the PV game Saturday to determine what may happen.
a three-way tie is determined by the win loss record of the three teams so PV is 1-3 against AAMU and JSU while JSU is at worst (for now) 2-1 and AAMU is at worst (for now) 2-1....PV loses out in a three-way tie and gets third.
Basically, whomever loses Thursday can kiss their regular season hopes goodbye unless a miracle happens on the weekend.
Valley is 4-13 and one more loss by them clinches the 8th seed......a MVSU win Thursday and two SU losses drop SU to 8th due to the tiebreaker.
The question that may mess it all up...does every team who lost to Alcorn get those wins back? Only team that won't benefit is Texas Southern but if that happens that may shake up the middle of the tournament bracket.
These teams you don't want to see tournament time regardless of seed....(women)
Alabama State - Freda seems to turn it up a notch in the tournament
Southern - Pugh seems to actually coach better
Mississippi Valley State - remember their run a few years back
AAMU - you don't know who'll show up.
UAPB - something about them scares me....
GSU - They can match-up with every team because they are big
you got to have some halfcourt sets in tournament time (Stribling's downfall) so those running and jump shooting teams won't have much of an advantage.
Teams with post play are deadly this time of the year.
