I would like to see a SWAC/MEAC Challenge week in basketball like they usedta do the ACC/Big East Challenge...

Banks seems happy with the way we played, that speaks volumes, because he isn't easily pleased.

Southern men fade in loss to Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo . — The first 34 minutes Friday night couldn’t have gone any better if Southern coach Roman Banks had scripted them.

The Jaguars led the bigger, deeper Wyoming Cowboys for most of the final game of the Global Sports Hoops Showcase. The only thing Banks couldn’t script was the finish.

Wyoming erased a seven-point deficit with 6:17 to go by posting a 15-3 run, lifting the Cowboys to a 67-60 victory.

Southern finished its weeklong road trip, which started with games at Iowa State and Nebraska before coming to Laramie, at 1-4. But the Jaguars head home with plenty of optimism following what Banks called his team’s best performance of the season.

“We played tonight,â€￾ he said. “We had a chance to win the ballgame. It went as good as I could have hoped. ... We had Brandon (Moore) playing, and it gave us some confidence. When he plays a couple games and we learn how to play with him in the lineup, I think we can be pretty good.â€￾

I've been saying this for a couple of years on this board. I even put the template up on this board

All the SWAC teams versus the top 10 MEAC teams. For example this year, it would have been NSU versus Valley (tourney teams) and then the 2nd place team in the SWAC versus the MEAC regular season champs (I forgot who it was but it wasn't Norfolk) and so forth

Since NSU went further in the tourney and had a better record they would host Valley. If both teams have 1st round exits, the team with the better record hosts the game.

PV leads TCU 10-0 in basketball today. TCU has not scored for the past 3 minutes.

14-0 TCU scoreless in 7 minutes of play.

Well we blew that 30-21 lead and now is behind 40-35 with 1:45 left in the game.

Why do you call a timeout when you got a fast break going with numbers....ahghhhhhh

We got to be the worst free throw shooting team around, 9 of 22 from the line so far.

9 of 22 from the free throw line. You hit 70% and you win.

Who does this look bad for? I say TCU. Baylor's women's team could blow them out.

If PV hit some shots and free throws and they win this going away. They honestly gave this away.

FT wise vs aTm, we were almost perfect.

Although we lost, I see great potential. This is the best PV team I've ever witnessed. Hats off to BRimm for recruiting solid players.

Did you see the game Fiyah? Those misses were caused by mostly 1 player no names *cough *cough #32 Chapman, once the refs figured out he couldn't hit his freethrows they kept putting his arse on the line, he needs to be in the gym now shooting FTs :smh:

+1. Seriously. He was rushing his attempts. :smh: Someone needs to convey to him to take a DEEP breath, or two, and then line it up, aim for the back part of the rim and let it float from the fingertips. :smh:

I don't understand how ANYONE who professes to be a bball player cannot knock them down @ a clip > 80%. :smh:

The Alcorn Men's Basketball teamwill host the Fort Valley Wildcats today at 2 P.M. Pre Game is 1:45 and the game can be heard on wprl.org.

For once, I understand how/why PV Mens basketball was chosen pre-season #1.

However, I don't understand how not ONE of our players didn't make the SWAC pre-season team. :smh: Boy. :shame:

Obviously. :smh: Demunyk (sp), that kid has some real MAD basketball skills but.... :read: He's awfully physically gifted. Our PG looks like he belongs on a fball field @ LBer rather than a basketball court lol. I feel sorry for ANYONE who attempts to keep him from driving to the hole. :dead:

Let me shut up.
