SWAC BASKETBALL - DECEMBER

So far the SWAC has 9 OOC wins in Men basketball. Everyone has wins except AAMU, Valley, and Grambling

Texas Southern win over 3-7 ULL (Sunbelt)
Jackson St. win over 2-5 Seattle (Western)
Alabama St. win over 5-7 Troy (Sunbelt)
UAPB win over 0-10 UMES (MEAC)
Alcorn win over 1-9 Samford (Southern)
Southern win over 1-6 ULM (Sunbelt) and 2-7 South Dakota (Summit)
Prairie View win over 5-6 Navy (Patriot) and 7-2 Houston (C-USA)

:tup: We (SWAC) need to have a balanced schedule of teams on these levels sprinkled in with some "winnable" "money" games (like TSU and PV almost beating Houston). We can compete...

If yall play like yall have as of late, yall will get the win, plus they have some injuries. I saw TCU play PV and UH. PV played them close for most of the game and UH beat them and they are not a good team right now. Great opportunity to beat at Big-12 Team SU. Take advantage!

I don't think either of those were money games. PV was a home and home and I think UH comes to TSU next year for the return game. But the scheduling for TSU at least is much better this year. We have four decent OOC games at home (ULL, Oakland, Cal-Fullerton, & FIU). Most we have had since I can remember and the home court advantage has worked. So far we have only won one of those, but the other two loses were an average of 2-3 points each.

PV did beat Houston......We play them again on the 29th at their place.

The way Davis has TSU playing this year, they would be scary if they get to the Big Dance....

There was little in the way of either drama or mercy Monday night.

Georgia Tech treated Alabama State the way an ACC team ought to handle an opponent from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, dispensing a 75-41 thrashing of the Hornets at McCamish Pavilion.

The game grew loose at times, but the Yellow Jackets exploited their advantages in size, athleticism and cohesion for most of the 40 minutes.

“We wanted to play our game the whole game and take them out early,â€￾ forward Robert Carter said.

In their first game after completing final exams, the Jackets clubbed the Hornets with a 19-2 run midway through the first half that provided a 20-point lead. Tech was never threatened thereafter. The performance drew in comparison to Tech’s last game, in which the Jackets permitted an inferior UNC-Wilmington team to nearly steal a win out of McCamish before closing the game out.

The 34-point margin of victory is the largest in coach Brian Gregory’s tenure, surpassing a 33-point win over Florida A&M last season.


:topic: Had I known Alcorn was playing here last night I would have gone out to support them vs Temple.

I hope we pull it out. I know PV missed some free throws in the 2nd half.

Fair game called except that one call that should have been a foul. We need to make our free throws the rest of the way because this game is slowly slipping away.

I don't agree. They were letting TCU get away with pushing our players as they shot. We have to rebound better. To many 2nd chance shots.

Final: Southern 57, TCU 68

Final: Alabama A&M 59, Missouri St. 47

SWAC with another OOC victory.
