With the lack of full scholarships in baseball...it does not take much to become competitive...
 
in game one your facing the ace of the staff so every team is damn near equal to open the tournament...the 1st round is the most dangerous round....after that depth comes into play
 



Seems like the East will go 4-0 on day one if Bama State defeats Grambling. Haven't seen that ever happen for one division to sweep the first day.

For sure, not in the last 4 years. I don't remember 2009. But it has been close to 10 years when that happened.

BTW, Do you think Russell will pitch again this tourney? I remember folks at last years tourney complaining how fast he worked on the mound. It was like as soon as he got the ball back, he was ready to go again. Coaches were making batters intentionally step out to mess up his rhythm. But it didn't work. :lol:

He still pitches that way. He could be back on Saturday or Sunday at the earliest. He completely shut down PB with ease.
