SWAC Baseball attendance

When the Swac Baseball Tournament was held at Trustmart Park in Jackson it was made possible by an individual financed the cost of having the tournament there. This same individual help bring the Mississippi Braves to Jackson. His hope was to introduce Swac Tournament Baseball to Jackson and bring fans with it , especially Alcorn,JSU and Valley fans. He financed the cost for two years. Unfortunately the attendance during that two year period was sub par. He could not afford to keep the tourney at Trustmart because of the cost and very little return based on attendance. Thethird year the Tourney was held at Smith wills Stadium in Jackson. Following that year the Tournament has bounced around to different cities.

In my view the a "Swac Championship" needs to be within the "Swac Footprint." I think New Orleans,Jackson,Baton Rouge,Houston,Birmingham,Gulfport-Biloxi and Mobile are within the "Swac Footprint." Is Memphis in that footprint? I know Alexandria,La and Little Rock Arkansas put in a bid to host the baseball Tournament . Where can the tournamet be played that will please coaches and fans?
The tourney was played at Trustmark for only 1 year (2006). The 2nd year was a fiasco(2007). The tourney was scheduled to be at Trustmark but the Braves had games scheduled there and wouldn't reschedule. Smith-Wills was the only other option, however, another team uses that stadium as their home and if memory serves me correctly that team was in the playoffs. Had they won another game, the SWAC tourney would have been "homeless".

Trustmark would be an excellent choice provided we have support from the Braves organization. Nice facility, nice indoor batting cages, nearby hotels and restaurants for fans. If not there, what about the new minor facility in Houston?

I doubt that. But that's not where they were talking about having the tournament lol. It was going to be at some place with multiple fields outside of Memphis lol.
That link you included has multiple fields but only 1 field that could play a high school/college/pro game. Only 1 field had bases 90 ft. apart.

they are actually almost finished building a stadium down the street from my house off Hwy 6

Id still rather it be in BR
This would be a great place to host the tourney. I wouldn't be surprised if the Southland, Sunbelt, or Conf USA tries to play their tourney there.

The cost of renting that facility isn't feesible with the amount of fans that's going to show up. What's the use of renting a 10,000 seat stadium for 5-600 if that shows up in Htown.

Well that's where they want to hold the tournament. Remember when it was in H-town in 04 it was at a facility similar to that one. I think it was baseball USA.
