JSU Limits SU Batters To Three Hits?!

Sorry SU baseball fans, but the current SU team is not special.

"JSU turned out ten hits and limited SU hitters to only three hits and the JSU starter pitched the entire game for the win.

The two teams meet tomorrow in Baton Rouge in the second game of a home and home series."

LOL. We'll see if you can beat SU in the tourney. Aint nobody worried about one game bruh. It's baseball. You know your history with SU overall? It aint good at all in baseball.....

I am more worried about PV, UAPB and TxSU come tourney time.

But anyway congrats on the win.

Re: JSU Limits SU Batters To Three Hits?!

JR why did you all let that happen, you know JSU can't handle success lol! 10 threads are about to open just because JSU beat SU in something!

It going to be another gate open at the top corner we trying to put a nice wood deck out there in the real near future (hopefully this summer).

Dude, you can try and shrug off that loss today as a fluke all you want. Simply put, the teams in the East are stronger this year, especially in regards to pitching. The teams in the West are living off last year's glory. Valley and Alcorn are very much improved this year.
SU's record against the top three teams in the East is 1-2.

In the past, JSU was heavy in hitting and weak in pitching and defense. They're just the opposite this year.

We talking to the same people then. We told Braddy about that deck little while ago. Omar came out and thanked us after the game. He was telling us about getting a gate cut in at the top of the fence. The contractor is neighbors with one of our guys. Dude told Omar they gone have him out there tomorrow cutting that fence.

Good game jSU congrats. Zachery pitched a hell of a game. Cant wait until tournament time  .

The law of averages was bound to happen. 2 wins since 2001

Jackson State curtails SU, 4-1

JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson State’s Marquise Zachery pitched a masterful complete game to shut down Southern in a 4-1 victory Saturday.

Zachery (4-2) held Southern to three hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Zachery hit three batters — all in the first inning — but got out of the early jam by coaxing Gregory Whitfield to hit into a double play.

“The guy pitched well,†Southern coach Roger Cador said. “We looked a little confused. … We had maybe two good at-bats all day.â€

SU (17-9) and Jackson State (23-12), the two teams who have dominated Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball, will meet again at 1 p.m. today at Southern’s Lee-Hines Field.

The two-game weekend series, between teams in opposite divisions, does not count toward divisional standings.

Southern played its first game without outfielder Brad McDavid, who is out with a fractured bone in his right wrist suffered Wednesday in a 4-1 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette. McDavid is hitting .356, with seven home runs and a SWAC-leading 39 RBIs.

“Just having his presence meant so much,†Cador said. “He had clutch hits time and time again, and he was a tough out. … Now, guys try to do more than they should do, and that causes problems.â€

SU, which has lost three of its last four games after winning 13 of 14, is still without catcher Michael Thomas (broken hand) and No. 2 pitcher Daniel Garcia (elbow soreness) and No. 1 pitcher Jarrett Maloy (ankle).

Marquise Zachery pitched a hell of a game!!! Its no secret that if you pitch the slow stuff you will give SU trouble. Thats what PV did in their 2 wins against SU.

Zachery kept SU off-balanced with the slow curve and his change up.

Pitching wise, the East may be better. It will be interesting cause as seen yesterday SU didn't pitch bad. JSU got more hits but was kept in control. Spear gave up 2 solo shots and a triple. But the offense didn't help him for the 2nd straight Saturday.

SU has had bad at-bats as of late. Those weeks against grambling and tx southern has su thinking to swing for the fence all the time. It wasn't until the 8th inning when su batters started moving up in the plate.....and not 1 of them stood on deck and worked on their timing.:kaioken:

With that being said, it was good to meet the SWACstars and hang on the hill! The hill is the bomb!(wouldn't be surprised to see an old couch out there next year come tourney time..:D)

Didn't we already kick *ram's azz in baseball? I guess it's gonna be JSU and Valley in the finals this year. I think JayROb already told them that the best baseball was in the EAST....oh well.

I heard everyone in the East is like that this year. Each team in the West has at least 1 good starter...(except maybe txsu). The 1st day will be a good day of pitching at the tourney. Day 3 will be when the blowouts begin.

C'mon man!!! My cuz'n who was with me hasn't seen SU play this decade and could tell SU couldn't hit the slow stuff.

Lemme tell you what he said.....not once did SU try to take a walk get any1 on base...not once did any1 step up in the plate...and j-strong should have been taken out of the game.

I do think they are in a funk right now and I think they will bounce back today.
