Sudoku


I kept hearing about this but never knew what they were talking about. I think they explained it the best way they could. Now I can't stop playing.
 



In a simple way you have to get the numbers 1-9 across and down without duplicating the number in the rows...

I hope that helps...everyone and there mother plays it on the Metro here.
 
Bought a couple of books a few days ago and just got it together today. Sam's has 3 puzzle books and they're only about $5 a piece.

Yep, that's a good explanation. Just add that you can't have duplicate numbers in the same "9 square box" either. :tup:

Just kidding. I can do the very easy ones and it takes me longer than 4 minutes. I guess with time I'll get better.
 
Just heard a story on NPR about the Sudoku National Championships taking place in Philly this weekend. Prize money up to $10,000 to be had.

The Philadelphia Inquirer Sudoku National Championship is the first U.S. Sudoku Championship. Hosted by renowned puzzle master Will Shortz, the Championship is a great opportunity for enthusiasts from across the United States to test their skills. The Championship will have categories for all skill levels. The winner will automatically be granted a spot on the U.S. team at the World Sudoku Championship. Children are invited to attend. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the social events that will be planned. (see below to view the weekend?s complete itinerary). The Championship will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and will run from Friday, October 19 ? Saturday, October 20, 2007, beginning with a Welcome Reception on Friday evening. The Championship itself will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2007.
One of the great things about the Championship is that many participants will have an opportunity to walk away a winner. Prizes ranging from $100 to $10,000 will be awarded for a variety of different categories. The winner of the advanced level of the Championship will win $10,000 as well as a spot on the US National Sudoku Team in which they will compete in the 2008 World Sudoku Championship in India. Expenses to and from the World Sudoku Championship will be paid for by The Philadelphia Inquirer as part of this prize.

I can't even compete in the Bugtussle Town Championships. :smh: But I love Sudoku! I hate my friend who went to Africa with me this summer and introduced me to those doggone puzzles. HATE HIM! :angry: He does them rapid fast, even the difficult ones. When we got to New York he bought me a book for beginners, but I need the book for the retards cause they torture me but I don't give up until I finish. On the flight from NYC to London I work them almost the entire time, until I was so exhausted I didn't go into the city, I went to SLEEP. :lol:

He also does them on the computer. I sho can't do that. :retard: My head has to be down for me to SEE and THINK. :dizzy:

I can only do them when I am traveling, hell I will not get any work done, home or office, if I start one up! Love/Hate them!!! :argue2: :kiss:
 
I enjoy doing them, but I can't do them fast.

I can't do them on the computer either. I've tried and it is just not the same has utilizing a pencil to complete them. I have one with me just about all of the time.
