btw, Doug interviewing with SU was mentioned on football scoop. Nothing extra, just a one liner. Just like the MANY other one liners for that particular day.

And I agree. It's not really about SU. Doug's name aint nearly as big as yall trying to make it seem. Top story of the day/week.....just for interviewing. hahaha

Jayrob, the point is that HISTORY doesn't mean you will win isht. You can't rest on your laurels. Gram knows Eddie Rob's greatness aint coming through that door and if you hire wrongly that it can lead to disaster. Same for JSU.......hell you saw it first hand with Bell. Same for any school who thinks HISTORY is enough to carry you.

PV showed all of us this year that it don't mean nothing. Until our schools hire a good coach or good coaches to beat what Frazier is doing then he will pull just what Pete did when arrived to the SWAC.

History is nice for Historians. It don't mean isht if you can't continue to win and constantly have to talk about what you did in your history. It shole aint helping Notre Dame is it? They have history and money. Bad Hires are bad hires no matter what kind of HISTORY your program has.

You can make it that if you want to, but I'm speaking frankly and bluntly about a possible hiring that's highly overrated.

You guys don't realize that while at Grambling, things fell into place for Doug....i.e., Bruce, Spears, history, etc.
There's no guarantee that the same will happen at SU. You are not Grambling and you are not JSU.
The '90's is all you have to brag about and maybe the first part of the 2000's. Other than that, SU has no legit history in SWAC football since the '60's under Mumford. If I'm mistaken, please feel free to show me.....I did say SHOW me.

Guys the Doug Williams story is a bit overstated....Stump Mitchell will be the next coach at SU...not going on what I hear but what I know!!!! BTW....it's a pretty good hire.
