SU will be an instant contender to win the SWAC

If SU hires Doug that would be good for the SU, GSU and the rest of the SWAC, the Bayou Classic will reclaim it's number one spot so it's good on both sides but still people will be torn at both institutions.

Re: SU will be an nstant contender to win the SWAC

SU, I will give you credit as an Alcorn Brave, 2003 was your year in the SWAC. You ran through everyone, except one team. You fans thought you had that game won. However, you came to the scalping grounds in Lorman, and GOT SCALPED.:smash:

That game was played in Mumford... Not the woods of Lorman! :retard:

Mumford Stadium in Lorman, Louisiana. When a team in blue and gold gets beat in Mumford Stadium, that losing team plays on the winning teams field. SU lost the 2003 game on Alcorn's field. Question SU, how many times have you beaten Alcorn in Mumford this decade? You SU Fans know that when you play Alcorn, YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BRING IT!!! Jaguar Nation knows that two Alcorn wins in a row means that the BRAVES are yalls Daddy once again.

First, give it break. What championship did you win any year you beat SU? If you don't have a championship, it doesn't matter who you beat and when. I understand when you are building a program, you put SU, GSU and JSU on your hit list as targets to measure your growth. But, I was raised on Reservation Corn and Wine, you shouldn't be happy if you aren't winning the SWAC Championship.

By the way, very nice defensively called game by Leslie Frazier tonight against the Vikings. That Brave is representing in the NFL as Defensive Coordinator. Hopefully, he'll get more than an interview and become a NFL head coach before he retires.

Peace...

What happened to my pictures of Crying Eddie and Doug? :noidea:

I know yall Jags not getting sensitive over a few coaches that have no relation to yall?:shame::shame::shame:

Hey pop FYI.... Posting pics of deceased coaches and the such(mama jag)
is a direct violation of tspn rule #122 article b. Not trying to be funny but its an unwritten law. You may see it broken from time to time but like my dad always said...The law is the law!

Hiring Doug or any other coach will not make SU instant contenders. Before Pete, SU was an average to below average team. Pete was a great fit at that time, but just hiring a coach makes no one "instant" contenders.
In all actuality, I think Pete was a better coach than Doug when he first arrived at SU, so don't think just by hiring Doug, SU will suddenly start winning.

Grambling had far more history and tradition than SU, as does JSU. SU in fact may get worse under Doug, then what?
Folks need to be cautious about putting too much stock in one person.

You have no clue dude. Absolutely none. None of what you said makes any damn sense at all. These kids don't give a fugg about no tradition these days. They need good quality coaching to win and to train and play in good facilities. Not advocating Doug as SU next coach. But you got to be dumb as hell to think he couldn't be successful in Baton Rouge which is basically his backyard. And you know his mentality is to beat the isht out of folks. The way you sound is that no coach can win at SU but Pete. Give it a rest.

You need to be worrying if Comegy will have the good sense to hire a competent OC. One thing we do know is that Doug is a better coach than Comegy.

JR, no need to sell out your intellect for elementary antics.

Question: Name one "consistently" winning coach SU's had over the last 30 years, other than Pete? I rest my case. Prove it first, then folks will believe.
All that other mumbo jumbo is for the birds. SU is not Grambling nor is it JSU.

Dude, WTF does past coaches at SU have to do with it? There are no WC Gordens, Eddie Robinson's or Marino Casem's getting ready to walk through the coaching ranks in the SWAC for any SU coach to deal with. In that case I guess Coach Frazier at PV should have been concerned that PV had no consistent coaching until he got there. Being JSU will not help yall if you keep hiring stupid coaches. Same would go for Grambling. Your past don't mean isht. Especially in college ball were players come and go quicker than say the NFL.

Do you realize that Florida State had no consistent winning coach before Bowden? Do you think no coach can come in there and win again?

Same goes for Va Tech. They sucked before Beamer. Same goes for Florida. They had not done much until Spurrier came along. I guess once Spurrier left they were doomed? Or did Urban Meyer come in and out do Spurrier?

The point is that whatever SU did in the 70s and 80s don't have no bearing on what will be done in 2010 and out in the future. Just like JSU glory years don't have no bearing on what yall will do in the future either. If it did, then yall would have dominated the 90s and 2000s like you did in the 80s. LOL. Man you aint too bright about sports are you.

The sad thing is if we are going on past.........SU had a richer football history before JSU created their own history. None of that means isht if you hire bad coaches which SU did in the 70s and 80s and which yall have done in recent times.

So after saying all that....your answer, I presume is zero. Thanks.

Now that Pete's gone, you will finally come to the realization of how great he was for your institution. SU should erect a statute of ole Pete in honor of him putting yall on the SWAC map next to JSU and Grambling.....seriously.

As you indirectly stated, no other coach (over the past thirty to thirty-five years), has done for SU what Pete's done. What are the odds of the next coach coming in and doing better? Slim and very slim.
Simple deduction JR, simple deduction.

One more thing.....SU doesn't have Florida's nor Va Tech's booster support and funding for you to compare SU to the likes of such schools. Come on JR, you know better than that.
Remember, yall had fewer coaches than any SWAC school and remember, Jindal is constantly cutting your funds.

Not that Doug is SU's answer, but you can't be serious in saying a coach makes no one a contender.

If that is the case, why did JSU hire Comegy? If it wasn't the coach that kept you from being a contender, why fire the other dude. Why were ya'll not going to the games, except when SU came to town? Come on dude. You from my state. You are much smarter than that. It is folks out here will think you are serious.

Peace...

I forgot, this is the dude that debates for the sake of debating. My bad... carry on... No need waste any more strokes on this ignorance.

Doug may be a good choice, but I think some folks are overstating how great he is.

Folks are responding as though folks are saying he is great. I'm reading he has had some success as a coach, including rebuilding programs to be successful. I don't think anyone is saying he is great, yet.

Peace...
