A possible preview of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament and, for Southern, a chance to flush away bad memories of a late-March series turned bad await when the Jaguars visit Prairie View.

SWAC titan Southern (21-13, 14-7 Western Division) and defending SWAC champion Prairie View (27-20, 14-4) play a doubleheader of seven-inning games at 1 p.m. today and a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.

While this is the final weekend of divisional play for SU, PV visits improving Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10-24, 6-12) next weekend.

The Jaguars will be at least the Western Division?s second seed in the SWAC tournament, May 15-20, and with a sweep could take the top seed.

Prairie View won the series a year ago in Texas and went on to the school?s first SWAC title.

?You want to try to finish strong in league play and send a message,? SU coach Roger Cador said. ?That?s our goal.

?And we?ve got to prove what we?ve been all year. Can we go to another conference school and win a series on the road??

SU is 10-1 in its last 11 road games and 8-1 on the road in SWAC play (losing 10-9 at Texas Southern on April 15).

PV won the first game 7-4
SU leading game two 6-0 in the top 7th

PV coach pull all the starters in the 4th inning, but i'm not sure why..

SU will leave without a title this weekend and with the game two win they have themselves in a tiebreak situation that will only occur if they beat PV tomorrow and PV loses only one game to UAPB

PV wins tomorrow they'll clinch a share of title as they'll have a 16-5 record and SU will have a 15-8 record...one win next weekend gives them the title outright

The Band Fan,

After games 1 and 2 today, Southern is still three games back in the loss column with one game to go for Southern and four games to go for Prairie View A & M.

Prairie View A & M 15-5
Southern 15-8

PV wins tomorrow they'll clinch a share of title as they'll have a 16-5 record and SU will have a 15-8 record...one win next weekend gives them the title outright

Correction, if Prairie View A & M wins on Sunday, they win the Western Division Championship out right and the Arkansas at Pine Bluff series is irrevelant to the Panthers and they will finish in first place for post season seeding, because Southern would be four games back in the loss column.

Prairie View A & M 16-5
Southern 15-9

If Prairie View A & M loses on Sunday, Southern would be two games back in the loss column. Prairie View A & M would need to win one game against Arkansas at Pine Bluff series to gain a tie with the Jaguars for first place and two wins to win the Western Division Championship out right for the Panthers to finish in first place for post season seeding.

Prairie View A & M 15-6
Southern 16-8

Note:
Props to Southern's Weeks for providing tickets to the Southern baseball team for the game, Brewers at Astros Friday night.

Weeks did more that get SU tickets for the game..:swink: He took the SU Jaguars out to dinner friday night..:swink:

Fiyah,

I agree Missed Panthro though, take care your business. I could have frustrated him even more with some more information.

LOL!! @ Fiyah and those bigger than Texas specialized links that would not fit on a slice of bread. People had to cut them in half and eat them 30 minutes apart.

Is this game being broadcast live? If so where?

Man ,that was Fiyah cooking those links...I had one and had to force myself to not go back and eat another one.

That was Fiyah and I under the tent right behind the second fence and the refreshment stand watching the game and listening to Brady Quinn's fall faster down the draft board than Prairie View's Taylor's curve ball on a two strike pitch. I still have a cooler full of beer.

Congratulation to Prairie View A & M University's baseball program's players, coaches, athletic director, students, alums anf fans on 'Back to Back Regular Season SWAC Western Division Championships.'

Ditto! I'm elated for the school's baseball players, coaches, athletic dept, students, and alums. They deserve this.

The Advocate on PV's win said:
?We?ve got to try to find some pitchers we can depend on,? Cador said. ?Hopefully we can find five or six people, maybe seven, :emlaugh: to have a chance to win the tournament.?

I vividly recall quite a few from Southern "bragging" about SU's pitching staff. :emlaugh: Too bad the HC doesn't hold the same view of the "BEST PITCHING STAFF IN THE SWAC." :retard:

 Y'all R 2 funny.
