Jaguar Nation
Brian Johnson jumps to nationals
Jaguar junior No. 1 in long jump, No. 5 in 100-meters

He is number one in the nation in the long jump and fifth in the 100-meter dash however, Brian Johnson is still setting goals for himself.

"I just want them to use me as an example. If I can do this anyone can do," said junior political science major Brian Johnson.

The first outdoor meet at the Florida A& M Relays with only two weeks of practice coming straight from basketball season Johnson qualified for the nationals jumping 26-3 3/4. The next week Johnson astonished the crowd jumping 27-4 at the University of New Orleans relays far surpassing his last jump.

In the 100 Johnson ran a 10.23 qualifying for nationals twice in one day at the UNO relays,

"He is a canny person, he is a remarkable person," said head coach Johnny Thomas.

BgJag,

Who won the Florida A & M University Relays?

Brian is well on his way to a career in Track and field. I hope he signs with Nike.

To put his jump in perspective, the best long jump in the world last year was 27-8.
