SU Jag 79
Jaguar ALUM
How in the world could you compare the 2002 team to this one coming up? In you want a true comparison, you might want to look at the 1999 team. Deep on the OL and DL, a scatback at RB, a season where two QB's played (Williams and Levy), and of course, the Dean, Pete. The only difference is the WR corps, that was stacked with Plain, Hayes, Ingram, Gallien, D. Lewis, and Joubert.
The QB's focused on Hayes late in that year, whereas last year and even 2002 should show you that SU has spread the ball around more. And with Vernon, Joseph, Coates, Bryant, Overstreet as the speedsters and true freshmen Landry, transfer Metcalf, fresh Taylor and Robinson and not even counting a sleeking Shelmire and Washington in the TE spot as the tall boys, receiving is NOT a worry for the "U".
And if I got into the RB depth that has been waiting behind Peoples and other RB who has transferred out of their way and I'm not even talking the one transfer we got in this year .... :flamethro
Like everyone has said, we will miss those guys, but in most cases, they didn't have a huge role, or there is someone who has been raring to replace them.
I seriously do not think any other SWAC school can say that at this point other than Grambling and if Eugene goes down and the little use of the running game they possess .......
