SU & LSU parade/Mass band

We Run The SWAC
That was one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had!!!! I'm glad to say that I was a part of history. Man both bands were on fire and the crowd of about 60,000 infront of the state capital was screaming to the top of their lungs. LSU was hollaring for SU and SU was screaming for LSU. When we joined together about 400+ and played the star spangled banner it was simply amazing.

That was priceless PJ. BTW, did y'all get them to play SU's arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner? It sounded like it and Doc directing both bands was sweet.

That was a once in a lifetime event. I can't recall of anytime that SU and LSU's marching band got together on such a stage. I wish I could've been a part of that. All involved should feel very fortunate to take part in something this special.:)

Man it was sooo Powerful!! I loved every second of it. Now I see how FAMU feels. With all of those people it's hard to keep the tempo.

Amazing Power exhibited by MASS band:eek:     When the last part of the Star Spangled Banner was played People actually began to weep:bawling: :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: I guess it was the SOUND and of Course the UNITY. Definitely one for the Record Books
Guestimated # in attendance 70,000 to 100,000
Fire it up SU!!!! Fire it Up!!!!! Wooooooooooo:flamethro

Being in that crowd was by far the best event that took place in my life. This one really ranks high.

I think if Martin Luther King Jr. was still alive, he would've smiled down on this event because when I say Blacks and Whites acted as if we've been family for decades, I mean it.

"How 'bout them Jags! How 'bout them Tigers!"

Congrats....

What was the event?

SU and LSU joining together :)

TxSU and U of H joining together :)

Now watch Texas A&M come knockin on PV door
:lmao:

once again congrats!!!!

I saw and listened to the news clip from the Advocate this morning. Both bands sounded great together, playing SU's version of the Star Bangled Banner, of course. ;)

Way to geaux JAGS and Tigers!

I completely agree with you. I don't mind that the Superbowl has us playing with U of H but I know white folks and I don't/won't trust this as far as I can pee on it. Playing together is great but.....TSU is older than U of H and still underfunded....and PV is GROSSLY underfunded as opposed to A&M any campus. White folk and bullshat coupled with music doesn't give me THAT much reason to rejoice at all. And believe it or not....that's not a racist statement.:redhot:

Yes both bands are in the parade that's why we didn't go to the HBOTB's because this is way more important.

:lmao: Congrats on the parade, but this is not true.

Everytime I look at who posted something I know what to expect. smh Ok since u were at the meeting that was held at 4:00 p.m. on Nov 20th in the Dr.Isaac Greggs band hall with the rep from HBOTB's, the band staff, and the rest of the band. Tell me why didn't we got to the HBOTB's.......

BTW it's really sad that u took something I said in another thread brought it to this thread to start some shat....Typical:rolleyes:

Sounds like you guys had fun at the parade.

So in the meeting on Nov. 20, 2003 in the Dr.Isaac Greggs band hall it was determined that su would not perform in the Honda BOTB because of the parade that was to take place on January 24, 2004 for a title that you hadn't even won yet. I just want to be clear this is what you are saying.

A couple of days before Nov 20th Doc told us we were chosen for the HBOTB's and asked if we wanted to do it. Everyone voted yes. Nov 20th with the rep from HBOTB's there, the staff, and the Chancellor it was made clear that we had other important engagements and we told the rep that we weren't going. We were favored to win it all this year and LSU was favored to win the SEC. We heard about the parade that same time around when we turned down the HBOTB's. That wasn't the only engagement that was up in the air around that time. If u would have read Doc's statement explaining why we weren't going you'd see that he said that we have other engagements.

Why the fugg are ya'll worrying about us?? gspoo get a life better yet concentrate on athletics so ya'll could have a parade in the woods of Ruston in front of 500 people. If u don't have anything to say about the PARADE don't post on this thread. Make another one so I could roast ya'll arses

Dude this was 2 years ago. LSU won the National Championship and SU was Black College Champions so they called it the Parade of Champions.
