LaFleur probably cant read correctly.LaFleur said the 80 percent includes all revenue. JSU athletic director Bob Braddy, however, said it only includes the gate, with concession and parking revenue going to JSU
Hmm... SU can't understand JSU playing in Memorial 2 miles from campus but they moved their home game OUT OF STATE to play in the WHITE MAN stadium... DAYUM! You can't make this sh*t up...:lol::lol::lol::lol:

The schools have a verbal agreement, but nothing has been signed. While cash is the primary factor in the decision, how the money will be shared has not been solidified.
The schools agreed in principle to a two-year deal to play in Jackson. Southern will receive 80 percent of the profits in 2009 and JSU will take home 80 percent in 2010.

Southern U. moves JSU game to Jackson for $$$

Jackson State football fans have at least one reason to cheer the sagging economy: It apparently has produced another home game for the Tigers this fall.
Saying the school can make more money playing in Jackson than in Baton Rouge, Southern University officials have moved the Jaguars' Oct. 3 home game against Jackson State to 60,492-seat Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The two SWAC East division rivals play yearly, alternating sites, but the chance to sell 40,000 or more tickets in Jackson outweighed the home-field advantage that comes with 28,000-seat A.W. Mumford Stadium in Baton Rouge.
"You can't measure (home-field advantage)," said Southern athletic director Greg LaFleur, whose school is facing stiff budget cuts and recently eliminated its women's golf and men's tennis teams. "I can't worry about the part I can't measure.
"But we can count cheeks in the seats.":retard:

Last year was the first year since Bell that Southern beat us in Memorial. So JSU might be paying SU to whip they AZZ two years in a row at home.....
Correct me if I am wrong..but has not SU had a pretty good winning record in Memorial Stadium in recent years.....( Part of the agreement probably has JSU on the visitors side of the stadium)
The state probably has the last say-so on how the rental agreement is set-up. (They do own the stadium)
Haley Barbour and Jindal probably have a side deal already worked out....![]()
Last year was the first year since Bell that Southern beat us in Memorial.
Southern never beat HUGH's in Memorial or the SUPERDOME and before that, the best record Southern got in Memorial was about 2 in a row under Carsons watch.
Before that, Gorden punished SU in Memorial.
SU made 6 trips to Memorial at one point in the 1980's and did not score a single touchdown in 6 trips.
So JSU might be paying SU to whip they AZZ two years in a row at home.....

3 under bell, 1 under Comegy and that was last year.I said recent years.....you went back to the punishemnt of the 80's...
Over the last 10 years how many SU victories at Memorial.....
If we only play each other every other year, how did SU make 6 trips in the 80's to Memorial Stadium?
In the 1989, SU beat JSU 21-7 for JSU's homecoming in Memorial. That's 3 touchdowns right there.
Or were you trying to be funny?
Just a question/thought for the SU folks (eventhough I think I know the answer).
Would any of you have a problem with the game being played in Shreveport instead of Jackson?
Just a question.
I'd rather go to Jackson than Shreveport. In Shreveport you'd have an even lower attendance because both fan bases would have to travel, plus I think 'Port is further away from BR than Jackson.
Plus we'd have to pay rent.
Dude.
You old enough to remember that shat so don't act so brand new.
We was dropping 30 point win's on your arses in Mumford at that time also.
If you don't remember, ask someone old enough to school you.
Ain't getting into useless back and forth crap.
Might not be a bad move for SU....
- SU gets 80% of gate
- Even if JSU gets concession.....The Stadium gets a good percentage
based on the prices of food sold.
- Not sure on how the parking pans out, my guess is that the stadium
will get most of that as well.
- State of Mississippi picks up Insurance/Liability for the event.
- JSU pays stadium rental fees
- SU pays for a couple of BUS rentals and 1 night in a hotel for the team
(of course you could make it a turn around trip for the team as well
with a 6 p.m. kick-off) Cut your costs since we are in a financial
crunch.
Yep, that's what I figured.
