Suppose - just suppose the last SCG is at the end of this season. And suppose - just suppose the MEAC agrees to deal presented by a certain tv entity to bring back the Heritage Bowl - and that agreement by the MEAC stipulates that their regular season champion has to forgo the playoffs and that automatic bid....and also the SWAC returns to the full 9 game mandate...

What if all of that "supposing" wasn't just for "play-play" - but it might turn to reality in a matter of months....how would you feel about that?

the meac would not agree to that, but lets play what if....

IF they did, SCSU, FAMU, and pretty likely Hampton would leave the meac.

LOL @ FAMU leaving, they did that once and they still have not recovered from that.

As for anyone leaving - including those from SWAC - how many other conferences are looking for teams to join? The landscape in terms off conference affliations is pretty set right now. To try and go it as an independent would be suicide these days - if not for NBC Notre Dame would be in trouble - hell they are Big East in everything else but football.

And to the first part of your answer Alum - dont be so sure. The MEAC is at the table seemingly enjoying what might be possibly served up as we speak.

FAMU didnt fall because they tried to move OUT...they fell because they tried to move UP. And I do believe that there are other 1-AA conferences that would be interested in SCSU. The Big South is one I know for sure.

the MEAC as a conference may be sitting at a table open to what you suggest. However, I know our president, our AD, and especially our coaching staff want no part of that.....and the MEAC dont speak for us. They speak for the conference, and despite what a lot of black folk think, WE DONT HAVE TO BE A PART OF THE MEAC TO SURVIVE.

Please get for real.... NOBODY wants you... the fan base that you have now would be no more.... and you would be sitting here complaining just like Tenn State fans and students do.

In order to move UP - they had to move OUT - and again they are still trying to recover from the duality of the move....

Until you leave the MEAC - the MEAC on MEAC issues does speak for MEAC schools, now SCST might now agree with what might or might not be decided upon and that's the institution's individual right. If for some reason conferences are open to expansion, and institutions are able to make a decision they feel are best for them, go for it and do well...right now the current landscape is not conducive but it can change with the wind..

But the end result may very well be that MEAC powers that be will at the last moment decide against what is being presented...but if I were a betting man right now - and again it can change - but right now - if I were SCST, I would be giving the Big South a call.

If the MEAC made that decision, it would have to be made by the presidents so your school would not go anywhere....lol

Nobody wants us? Interesting...so why is it that the SWAC is always trying to get us to play some black college super bowl and leave the playoffs...

I think what DaHill is saying is another conference may not want you in their's. Also he is saying your fan base would not like playing the white boys week in and week out. That is some of the complaints from TnState folks. They rather play JSU, SU, FAMU, AAMU. Their fans like that. Heck all our fans like that. Webster was in the Nashville paper when we played them this year saying he rather play games like that. The OVC was giving Tn State grief for not playing other than HBCUs for their OOC schedule. Of course they said those teams didn't help the OVC OOC rating.

So the risk you run if the MEAC voted to do that and yall left......The MEAC could say we aint scheduling SC State for no games and now you are stuck scheduling nothing but PWCs. You know how our fans are at HBCUs.

folk do you not understand that SC State is a SMALL HBCU located in ORANGEBURG, SOUTH CAROLINA.... please tell me who the hell is going to be beatin down your door to join their conference? I could understand if you were a Clark Atlanta or Morehouse who at least have the city of Atlanta going for them.

No need for the Heritage Bowl... the teams from both leagues should reserve the third play date of the year for a game non-conference game. Allow the AD's to work out their own deals for either home and homes or neutral site classics. I prefer home and home.

No, but try and be part of the HBCU after you leave and you gonna get a surprise.:lol:

My question is why are we still talking about trying to segregate ourselves from the rest of the college football world? It's sure not because we're world beaters! We are as weak as rainwater and the only way to get better is go out there and play somebody. Yet were talking about further insulating ourselves. This is backwards to me. I don't want any part of being the best "black" anything! I simply want to be the best... no disclaimer. The reason Joe Louis was the man was because he was the world heavyweight champion...period. Not the the black world heavyweight champion. Some of y'all are lost on that point and frankly it makes me mad that college educated people are ready to run scared. Your kid is dying and you'd ask for the best black doctor in town.. lol.... give me the best one and if he/she happens to be black that's just gravy.

Major095 National "Black" Teacher of the Year, 2012.... lol

The bottom line is you folks need to give money to your school. If every one of you and your family gives your school $1000 our problems would be solved. We could end the SCG and move foward. If you haven't given money to your school please shut up and get a life!!!!!!

I guess that about wraps up this thread. Everyone please drive home safely.

We could have an Alabama Championship game played between the top two Alabama schools:

Alabama A&M
Alabama State
Stillman
Miles
Concordia
Tuskegee

I grew up knowing that Grambling could play with any school in the country... now I can't say that. I feel that part of the reason for a decline in our level of play (and the entire league) is from our isolationist scheduling procedures.

disagree, football in America is more political than our two party system of Government. As just one school of thought, football is a quality of life issue and it is important to those who control the monatary system. Nothing will ever be equal, and as long as we smell the pie, then a lot of people are happy. Even when our teams are playing well, there are some factors and tactics that destroy the minds of our players and they cannot stay focus to win. Another thing is depth. Too much stuff to consider before isolationist scheduleing procedures come into play.

MD...maybe some of the things you mentioned or alluded too contribute to our having an isolationistic scheduling practice. When the D1AA division was first created, most anticipated that Grambling and other prominent HBCU programs would dominate the division. Apparently, others did too as we witnessed an uneven playing field in terms of where playoff games were held (on the road, despite being the higher ranked team) and/or matching HBCU's against each other in the first round.

If one would look at the initial regular season matchups, it would show that our programs were successful in these games. When those schools turned the table, it seemed as though our coaches started with excuses for not playing them. The Presidents and AD's were cool with dropping them from the schedule since the "host party" at those schools were not the same grab azzing and good liquor drinking that these Presidents and AD's enjoyed on the University's dime.

mb's 2 cents!

Lynn Thompson, A.D. at BCU, has stated on MEACFANS BCU would be against such a plan. Under their previous A.D., A&T stated the same, but things could have changed. Our commissioner was in the paper running his mouth in a VA paper over a year ago about a MCG and revived HB. The Presidents told him hell no and he shut his mouth for awhile. These are also the same Presidents holding up expansion until other conference issues are resolved. At FAMU, we are not paying the coach $250,000 a year to win the MEAC.

Majestik
There are several folks on MEACFANS who talk to their A.D. and President on a regular basis. Post what you know over there and see what comes back, if your info is solid.
