I see y'all don't know the difference between a mascot, and a nickname.
Allow Deuce to help you out here . . .
Example, the Univ. of Miami's nickname is "Hurricanes", their mascot is an Ibis. His name is "Sebastian The Ibis".
Another example: The University of Alabama's nickname is The Crimson Tide, their mascot is an elephant. The elephant's name is "Big Al".
Get the point?

You know, this is actually a good topic, considering three schools have a tiger as their mascot (Texas Southern, Jackson State and Grambling). Talk about being unique.:retard:
Since tigers don't make their natural habitat in Jackson, Mississippi, Houston, Texas or Grambling Louisiana, it would be wise to change the name to something more closely related to the city or area where the university is.
Jackson State Volcanos--named after an extinct volcano located 2900 feet. beneath the city.
Texas Southern--Buffaloes
Grambling--Parishes

I went to the SWAC-MEAC Classic in Orlando last year but I arrived late. I know the original Wavy Dave passed away a while back. I loved his performances but did not think much of the name. I don't know if he is still called Wavy Dave.
Anyway, in response to this thread, I would change/set the name of the JSU mascot as
