SMH, Grambling and Jackson State are adding to the insanity as well.

the swac needs some firm rules regarding scheduling. Part of the problem is AD's don't want to work. That is, they don't want to go out and find an opponent that may not bring a big crowd. That means they'd have to work to sell tickets to their own fan base. The other part, face it, is coaching staffs that don't want to face tough, unfamiliar opponents. Alcorn played and got skull drug by James Madison. That was the last time we played an ooc fcs team. We'll play up, because we're supposed to lose and we get a check, but to play another fcs team and get beat says something about the program.

rules:
1. no conference teams as ooc opponents.
consequences, 200k paid to the conference from each team (400k total). that'll take the financial incentive out of playing.

2. no more than 3 fbs games in a 2 year period.

3. no more than 3 dII/naia games in a 2 year period.

its time to stop running and compete. we don't have to be in the playoffs. if we beat that butt during the regular season they'll find us and they'll make it worthwhile financially.

Breh, you're speaking the truth.

I feel the same way about our program smh.

I have been saying it for years...there is no structure. The conference of presidents don't really care about the issue of conference or non-conference....they would be happy for a 9 game schedule.

Man, like with us, we are playing TCU
2ecm44g.jpg

Makes no sense, we have become lazy and relying on the cacs for the checks instead of thinking of ways to generate our own funds to fund the programs.

Crap makes no sense, I kind of hope and wish the NCAA cut off on playing these games (in football). You gain nothing from these type of games, playing these Power 5 schools.

But I digress

Man them 1998 outdated ass folks need to be remove from their post/duties. Crap is killing the conference.

The SWAC ship was a step forward, but the marketing was ass, now it's been canned smh. Now we get to beat up each other throughout the year. Smh

Crap is so ass-backwards, it's just all-around sad

It's easy to resolve.

SEC releases future schedule rotations until 2025

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-releases-future-schedule-rotations-until-2025/

Now that the SEC has agreed on an eight-game conference schedule, the league office has gotten to work and on Monday released the future schedule rotations until 2025.

The SEC's 8+1 model that requires a non-conference opponent from one of the five power conferences could help the league's national perception, but the scheduling issues that come with a 14-team, two division league still exist. Alabama and Florida, for example, will play on Sept. 20 in Tuscaloosa but not again until 2021.

Been saying this.

The SWAC can adopt the same format, add a +1 non-conference opponent within the FCS world, and reach down to these other black schools, (MEAC) these other D2 good black programs and add them on the schedule.

Create old rivalries etc

I'd rather for that to happen then to take my ass to TCU and watch them hang 91 points on us and we run 13-15 plays against them and play the basic ass defense.

Crap is just disgusting

Looks like grambling is back to doing this and they got AAMU to go along with it this time for OOC game on Nov 10th 2018
Uhhh...how the hell you gonna put all of this on Grambling? (LOL) Nobody put a gun to AAMU's head and forced them to play us in a OOC game. I'm mean, I know the "G" has juice and influence and all, but damn! :D

Now, to be clear, I am no fan of the playing these type of games, but this situation is a perfect example of the challenges that occur when the conference exhibits a piss poor job of planning. When you fail to produce/update a conference schedule years in advance, this is what happens.

Nothing is wrong with playing the games. If we are about money, then let's play the games WITHIN our division that make us money. For example, SU and FAMU not playing makes no sense. JSU and GSU not playing makes no sense (but I do understand the scheduling conflicts this year). To me, as long as you are willing to schedule a competitive game, you are ok with me. But to schedule somebody you will beat by 70 or someone who will beat you by 70 is not what I feel college football should be about. I am totally against the 7 game format but if we do it, the conference needs to be more organized in their collective approach.

Wearing my AD Hat.

1. GSU
2. PV
3. TSU
4. Pine Bluff
5. JSU (On the schedule every year)
6. Alcorn (On the schedule every year)
7. Valley (play every 2 years) rotate them with Bama St
8. A&M (play every 2 years)

9 FAMU (or an opponent out of the MEAC) A home and home contract, 2018, 2020. Rotate A&T (2019, 2021) Create a rivalry, slap a classic on that, or make them a HC opponent, make this game a big weekend. BOTB and all that sht

10. Tenn ST. (Same with this game, make it as a Classic or something big)

11. James Madison or one of those playoff FCS schools (A home and home contract) etc, rotate with them each year or every other year

12. D2 (insert school) A home and home contract

13. Swac Championship game (13th game)

14. Celebration Bowl (14th game)

That's 14 games.

You don't have your TCU, UGA or any of those schools that can potentially hang 100 on us.

If you can't generate funds from a schedule like that, then you don't need to be in an AD position. IMO

Mane these old ass out-dated 1988 cats that's in these AD positions are lazy asf and don't think about how to generate money within.

They couldn't make 100k for their school if their life dependent on it. Always in the red bozos

12. D2 (insert school) A home and home contract

No D1 should ever travel to a D2 school in ANY SPORT.
Neutral site for a regional opponent? Sure. AAMU/Tuskegee played in Bham. Well attended game. Then we got a new AD and he decided to schedule an away game AT TUSKEGEE (his TRUE alma mater since he chose to attend there after HS before transferring to AAMU).

Folks smoking brisket under the goal posts. FOH!!!!

That's the basic scheduling model that every Swac/Meac/Black program should follow IMO.

Leave them Power 5 schools alone mane, Let them do them. We need to be doing us. Can't stand them dayum games, then we don't compete. Crap is just sad all around.

SU took their asses up to USM and that sht was just down-right sad. And now we going to TCU, yea that TCU that was in the Big 12 ship and we really game-planning for this sht
2ecm44g.jpg

Crap is a Joke.

GSU mane yall scheduling A&M? Like really, who is getting on the phones/emails and thinking this sht is a good idea to do? I bet whoever is doing this type of sht, always in debt wit their own bills and sht

I respect that thought but it's not about the whole big me, little you. It's about everybody eating.

They come to us, and we make money off them, why not travel to their stadium and let them eat (especially if it's a black program) Just imagine SU going to one of their schools and taking over their stadium like we do at these other stadiums, just imagine that. The band there, our fans etc and add us for their HC game. That's a big win for them.

Now you may ask, their fans wouldn't travel when it comes to playing us, well I would present, we send over 2,000-4,000 tickets/ plus passes/suites etc (at a low rate) and if you don't sell all these tickets/passes/suites, which the cost be our fee/or funds that we generate or funds that we would pay yall to come play us, then we pay yall nothing, etc. Another option would be we split the gate at their game when we play them or when we play them for our Home game, we don't charge anything to play them. Everything is for us. Pick your option, but everybody is gonna eat

But what's wrong with going to Tuskegee breh? I mean you got to come to the table and make it to where both programs eat.

Now If I'm the AD at AAMU, I would have presented something like, Let us be your opponent for HC to add some noise around the game. Let us make this an overall big weekend, BOTB, etc, etc.

We got to get back to making it more than just a "game" with some of these match-ups. Some of these games sell themselves, don't get me wrong, but to add something more to a game that's somewhat big/are "well attended" then that brings in more money.

You gotta create revenue from these type of setups IMO.

Valid points. But the scheduling mindset for all schools in the conference isn't the same. What may be good for one school, may not be good for another. Secondly, it needs to be understood, that scheduling nonconference games isn't an easy thing to do. Just because you ask that a school play you doesn't mean that school wants to play you. To simply say that SU and FAMU need to play each other isn't going to cut it.

I may not be crazy about playing P5 schools, but I'm a big fan of playing against G5 schools. I hope Grambling never gets away from doing that. But again, it all comes down to knowing what open dates you have to work with years in advance so that school can schedule accordingly.

It is not an AD's responsibility to tell another school who it should schedule for homecoming. (SMH)

I think you're mis-understanding what I am stating. If both ADs are on code they are going to want to maximize the opportunity. I'm not saying A&M should be on some "man schedule us for your HC dammit" trying to strong-arm the game, what I am saying is, if I am the AD for A&M, I'll present the option, saying hey mane, this game is well-attended let us both win at with this game. Let's make it even bigger, how about a match-up with you guys on your HC would be a good opportunity for this game to be even bigger, and we can return the favor in the future with yall being our HC matchup or we can make it one of our biggest home game someway somehow.

Notice I said "present"

That is what I am speaking on. The goal is to make the game bigger than what it is already. The goal is to create a vibe/energy that is a win for both schools.

You bring ideas to create an event that will generate revenue.

Ok. Breh

Is there a rule in place that states this? and if so, what's the penalty?

Or is this a feeling?

If Tusk makes 500K from it just being a game, but if the A&M AD can show that he can make 750K or a 1 milli by adding their school on their HC date with the ideas presented at the table, (if both personals are on code). It's not a thing to do?

Isn't this a business?

Aint the object/goal is to make money?

So why not present something on the table like that's going to enhance the game? Cuz of a feeling? LOL man stop breh.

This aint 1998 breh

Mane them 1998 ways are over. Yall got to stop thinking like that.

D1 schools can't travel to D2 schools smh.

Man Baylor when they were ranked #7 or #8 in 2014 I wanna say, at the time traveled to Buffalo Lol. That week for that game was crazy at Buffalo.

First off...have you seen Tuskegee's stadium? If you are the AD at AAMU, you DON"T play Skegee at Skegee. For the simple fact that it is a D2 program. Secondly, if you are the AD at AAMU you still want to uphold your program's image as a D1 program. Believe it or not, things like that are important. Thirdly, if you are the AD at AAMU and you have an interest in playing Skegee, you invite them to play you at HOME in Huntsville...not the other way around. You make it worth TU's while to play you at home, not the other way around. You have the potential to make more money playing TU in Huntsville. It ain't hard.
