Since the JSU/SU game drew only 35,000. Move that game back to Baton Rogue in 2004?

The Jackson State/Southern football game drew only about 35,000 this year, In 2000 the game drew about 49,000. Should Southern move the 2004 football game back to Mumford Stadium in Baton Rogue because of declining attendance?

DUDE LET ME TELL YOU THATS BULL ISHT THERE WAS MORE THEN 35,000 THERE.
WHEN WE PLAYED TULANE THE ENDZONE WEREN'T CLOSE TO AS FILLED AND THERE WAS NOBODY IN THE TERRRACE ON THEIR SIDE AND THEY REPORTED 40,227.
NOW IF YOU WERE AT THAT GAME YOU WOULD KNOW THAT, HELL THE DOME HOLDS 72,000 THERE WAS A VERY LARGE CROWD FROM J-STATE AND YOU KNOW WHAT WE BRING I DON'T KNOW WHO THE HELL DOES THE COUNTING BUT SOMEBODYS LYING ON ONE OF THOSE GAMES YOU TAKE A PICK.

The attendance count was WAY OFF!

Bluedog is right, there had to be close to 50,000. The Dome counters obviously didn't want to pay the gate receipt amount. There were FAR more people at this game than the Tulane game; in the plaza section alone on JSU side, it was packed from endzone to endzone. Same thing on the Southern side, we were packed. Hell it was 35,000 people in the Food Court and on that exit ramp to the Superdome.

:smh: and :redhot:

Get a life butt head r go to the smackboard hell your still just 1-0 in conf. and we're 1-1

The SU announcer kept guessing the figures.... He kept saying it has to be over 55K here today.

Remember the figures they gave back in 2000. Just like before. All the levels were full except the noise bleed sections...but there was a nice crowd up there.

If the attendance figures are correct, I say move the game back to the bluff. After all expenses are paid, how much money did the Atheletic Dept make by moving the game to NO with a crowd just over 35,000?

I heard them say that too.

I didn't attend the SU/Tulane game, but I did attend JSU/SU game, when they announced the attendance, I couldn't believe it, I thought the figure should have been higher. 35,305, was that an estimate or a count of the turnstiles? I say move the game back to Mumford, raise the ticket price to $25 and you don't have to pay rental fees.

I believe the count was a bit low. Most of BR was at this game and I'm sure JSU took a nice crowd as well.

Not getting in SU's business, but this game needs to be played at home. This is you biggest "at home" draw on the schedule. It shows the need to increase your stadium capacity to 35K in order to provide ample seating. Southern has enuff of a home fan base to accomodate a 35k seat stadium.

Also in fairness to Pete, he needs to be able to play "big" games like this at home. The home atmosphere is so important in a college football game. Not that this would have had a bearing on
yesterdays game, but over the long haul this has got to wear thin. The tailgates at Mumford are legendary and serve as a recriutment tool for future students. SU is an important part of the Afro-American community in BR...let them enjoy the privilege of coming on campus and experiencing one of BCF's biggest rivalries.

Just my 2 cents!

Bigg Mike ..

your not but trust me your wasting space with this discussion because its the same as usual for some strange reason they can't count black people.
We go to the dome every year u have to know that we know what it holds and how much and again tulane did'nt even come close to coming the corners and nobody up top but the count was 40,227.
JSU to their credit brought alot more fans this year and there was a few spots open in the lowes and about 100 in the top now u do the math u know there aren't 35,000 seats up top.
And as for as playing it at home I have know problem with that but everybody's talking about adding on where is the money going to come from u know as well as I that hbcu's put their money in general funds to support the whole university.
We can't seat 50,000 fans at home and in doing that what the university come out at about $400,000.00 as we were told by our AD.
Heck u know thats why gram travels so much that was talked about at halftime of the game(and this ain't smack)and JSU has never build a stadium on campus as of yet after all these yrs. u would have thought that they would have save enough r build enough line of credit with someone to do this because no matter what they say it'll be a hell of alot better to to have a 35,000 seater on campus then playing there unless they have some hell of a deal (which they may)
But in short u know as well as I HBCU'S need money and that should come before our ego's.

THERE WERE WAY MORE THAN 35,000 PEOPLE AT THAT GAME. WAY MORE. THE ATTENDENCE HAD TO BE ATLEAST 50,000. Probably right at 50,000. That is bullsh*t when they announced it I was like.....huh?

LOL.

p.s. now you know grambling does not fill the dome for the bayou classic. LOL. I've been...........Try again. They should rename that sh*t the Southern Classic. LOL.

I'll say it was split down the middle Saturday 25,000..... JSU 25,000 SU. EASILY.

Sooo myopic. You stated the crowd was 50-50 (25K) a piece, but when it's GSU (a Louisiana school) it's not the same ratio. The reason SU might have an edge is because weakazzes like you come and cheer for SU to try and do something you can't!

Just wait til October 26th. The beating we're gonna give Buffalo will make the First Baseman beating look tame. They're gonna want to do a nationwide search for us like they did that ***** who beat her kid. That's the kind of azzwhipping yall gonna get.

I don't know how many were there, but it was significantly less than the less time. IF they lied about any numbers, it was the numbers last week. The Liberty Bowl was almost full. I don't see why it wasn't completely full. I guess they're not promoting the games like usualy. There was more than 35,000 in NO but I am sure it was less than 45,000.

I don't know about the 50,000. Most of the nosebleed and half of the 2nd level was empty. I'd estimate maybe 44,567

Please don't move the game back to Baton Rouge in 2004, because Southern will send Jackson State only 500 tickets to sell when we really need about 15,000. Leave the game in New Orleans.

This game should not be moved back to Baton Rogue for the following reasons:

1. JSU ran out of tickets on Tuesday before the game and BeBop (Ticket Master) was only allowed to sell nosebleed seats.

2. JSU & SU were on their 4th road game in a row.

3. JSU & SU won/lost record was below par.

The attendance at this years game shouldn't be the determining factor in where this game should be played in 2004.
