Sharpton to speak at Southern University
Civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to speak Feb. 2 at Southern University.
The timing coincides with Gov. Bobby Jindal’s announcement about a study to consider merging Southern University at New Orleans with the University of New Orleans.
But Sharpton’s speaking engagement was scheduled months prior to Jindal’s announcement as part of the Chancellor’s Lecture Series, said Ed Pratt, the university’s spokesman.
Sharpton’s event at 6 p.m. Feb. 2 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center is free and open to the public.
