See How much SEC programs get from NIke,Adidas and Under Armour.

Anything is better than Russell...This Russell deal is borderline welfare for HBCU programs who couldnt go out and get their own uniform deals!

I wonder have any school or the swac as a whole as made an effort to reach out to these companies.

The contract is the issue...a few swac schools have been looking at other sports companies. Once that contract is up, most of us will move on from Russell.

Someone help the uninformed out here. What is/are Nike, Under armour or Adidas going to give us significantly better than Russell?

Any deal will be borderline welfare since we don't have much to offer these companies. They don't need us to market their products. I hate to say that, but it is true.

Agreed 100 percent...but I remember when a few schools where having a hard time even producing uniforms to outfit there team. Thats where the HBCU wide Russell deal came in at...

I know some programs want Nike but I would take UA or Adidas they tend to take better care of the smaller programs that use them! Adidas keeps TN State looking good in all there sports with Adidas gear...I wouldnt mind seeing JSU in that..rather than wearing Nike basic gear like the SWAC is doing now...

 You said it all right here. They don't need us to market their products. Also, as a whole we don't wear team gear or colors to games. There are a few schools that are better then others. FAMU is one school where I have noticed a lot of their fans wear team colors to games, but for the most part we are rocking Polo, Nautica, Tommy, Roc a wear, and many other urban brands. LSU is going to get a 3.1 million dollar equipment and apparel allowance from Nike, because Nike knows they are going to make that back plus more selling apparel to their fans.

We need to change the culture to get those dollars. How we do it. I have no clue.

Pretty plain looking as well.

What folks are wearing to the game has nothing to do with apparel contracts unless you can prove it.

Actually it is moreso about how many EYES see the products on a weekly basis. The sponsorships are basically advertisements for the apparel companies, so if you are an LSU that will be on TV weekly while also filling a 100K+ stadium, you can write Nike's check out for CASH.

Conferences/Russell should allow individual teams to opt out of the contract...Russell washes out certain colors(ever since Russell came on board, FAMU's colors have changed to this weird pastel green).

I noticed when Howard switched from Nike to Russell, there colors faded out as well...Russell sucks

The ugly uniform at the bottom is Russell...and TSU's newest Adidas set looks clean...the colors pop and it's simple yet clean and defining design...they also have custom "TSU" gloves which look pretty awesome

Well, Russell stuff is cheap, their gloves are made of Styrofoam and after one play can no longer be used. My issue with Russell is their uniform color schemes. Two HBCUs can have the same uniform design minus school colors because of lack of creativity from Russell athletics. With brands like Nike, Adidas you can give your input.

Exactly. Their fans don't care how much that shat cost in the stores, they will buy. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a Alcorn fan wear a Alcorn jersey to a game.

Exactly...have y'all seen Arena Football lately with their Russell contract...looks like a bunch of MEAC and SWAC teams

Nobody likes Russell...even the fans of teams like Georgia Tech

After one play?

See, you don't understand how it works. Teams can request a different design than the stock stuff. SU has never had stock uniforms from Russell. TxSU has had some different variations as well. Many schools just opt to pick the stock design and insert their colors/logos.

A lot of smaller schools do that with Nike and Adidas also.
