SCHOOL HOSPITALITY

This is a question that has crossed my mind for some time. I would like to ask former and current band members which school shows your band the best hospitality when your band visits their campus?

Yea I agree on Bama St. They talk a lot of noise but at the end of the day it's all love with them. They gone shake hands and take care of you after its all over and done with if you're at their house. Nothin but respect for them Hornets.

When I was in the band it was TxSU "The Ocean of Soul" hands down who were the best hosts. Our band directors were the best friends in the SWAC then. Butler and Doc had both bands interact with each other. Of course KKPSI from both bands were tight.

Believe it or not the next band we had a good time with was JSU's Sonic Boom. Especially between the Frat. But that may have been orchestrated by myself and my best friend who was in the Boom along with a bunch of my C'way homies. We kind of broke the ice between folks. Plus Taylor and Doc were cool. Not to mention Pops and Adams being Southernites on his Staff. So it was cool. A lot of noise talking but cool none the less.

Gram band folks were cool too. They hosted us well on road trips up to their campus and we partied together after the BC.

It would be interesting to know who is close with the Jukes these days.

I would have to say Atlanta A&T, they were some kool kats.

I know this is going back a ways but during my time in the Juke, we had MAD love for/with Tennessee State. We hung tough with them on their yard and they the same when they visited BR. I have very fond memories of the Aristocrat.

Yeah and it aint that serious. Folks actually hate each other schools now. Talking noise or smacking is one thing. To actually hate or dislike someone because they chose another band to march in or is in a rival school band is crazy. Defending your program to the fullest is understandable. To turn it into some real life beef is silly and immature.

Tennessee State had a whole barbeque meet and greet before we battled them in their gym in 2008. Very weird because we were in 100% battle mode after getting hit by Hurricane Gustav, and it was strange having a meet and greet before going in the gym trying to destroy them. lol

The same season, Houston hosted a brisket dinner for us and let us eat in their band room.

We're probably the most hated band in the SWAC that everyone wants to knock off, but I don't recall any incidents of blatant disrespect. I do know that Grambling was very friendly in letting our band use their facilities when we played La Tech.
