Say You're Mark Cuban

Vinita

Let's Go Lions, GO!
... and you could get Kobe.

Who would you trade?

This is the discussion amongst the boys in my Homeroom class right now.

The Lakers will not make the same mistake they made when they traded Shaq. If Cuban wants Kobe, he has to give up Dirk. And from what Cuban is saying, he is not giving up Dirk.

Besides, the Lakers would be better off trading Kobe to the East.

From Cuban's point of view... Dirk and Harris (PG)....maybe the African center...can't remember his name.

I disagree. If they send Josh Howard, a couple OK players and two first round picks, the deal will go down. Dirk is Dallas and they wouldn't expect Dirk.

For the deal to happen, it must include Josh Howard.

Cuban was on talking about this last week saying he would be interested in getting KOBE.
But he also said that getting KOBE and having to trade his entire team to LA was not the answer because that would put KOBE right back in the same situation he is in at LA.

He also said that under no circumstances would Dirk be part of any trade.
Cuban ain't stupid but he's smart to just talk and see what happen's.
If KOBE can't come, then the only thing Cuban loses is a couple hour's flying time on his jet to LA.

Face it fellow Laker fan's.
If Kobe is gonna leave the Laker's, it won't be for another 2 year's when he becomes a free agent.

Nobody is gonna give up their entire team for 1 player even if he is one of the top 3 players in the league and would sell out their arena.

The Lakers will NOT give up Kobe if Dirk is not included...period. It has been reported that the Buss family has made their position very clear on this. I am not just saying just to be saying. It is superstar for superstar...Josh Howard is not a superstar (yet).

If Cuban gave up Josh Howard and some others for Kobe that would be the most stupid bonehead thing he could've ever done. :retard: JoshH is a great player! Dirk IS dallas so he isn't leaving either.

However :read:, I'd LOVE to see Kobe in a mavs uniform. Hell, I'll move BACK to dallas & become a season ticket holder lol if he came to big "d." :read: :uhoh: Seriously. :read:

Wouldn't want to be in Buss's shoes right about now. :smug:

I would as long as Dirk and Jason Terry were NOT a part of the deal. The atmosphere at Dallas Mavs games are already amazing but getting Kobe would be more $$$$ and a better chance to win.

The Lakers WILL give up their superstar for an All-Star, young talent, and some first round picks. They know Kobe is due to become a FREE AGENT in a couple of years, then they will give him up FOR NOTHING.

Nobody wants to relive what the Mavericks lived when the lost Steve Nash and didn't get nothing in return. I'm not just saying that to be saying.

EXACTLY! If I'm Mark Cuban I have seen what Dirk can do. He disappears.

But come on man you can't give up Dirk. Like Sperm said Dr. Buss gotta give up Kobe for something because if he doesn't Kobe just walks away for nothing and remember Kobe has a no trade clause so he can pretty much decide where he wants to go.

In a couple of years (if Kobe is still there) the Lakers can realistically expect less in return because by then Kobe, will begin the down side of his career. But if you want him now, you have to pay a premium.

Nobody is going to do that SOG. Not after how KG got traded and Nash left Dallas and they got nothing in return. Kobe can hold yall hostage. You know he isn't going to allow a trade to a has been team. Buss done backed himself into a corner. Kobe seems like he really doesn't want to play. So do you keep a cancer on your team just to save face or do you take an all-star player and draft picks and build your team. Remember you are the LA Lakers. If you traded for Josh Howard, another player and picks........then you would have plenty of Cap space to go after free agents that will make LA a better team than it is with Kobe. So either Buss apeases the star driven LA crowd and keep putting crap on the floor with a disenchanted Kobe and it will only get worse. Or he pulls the trigger on a trade that will at least help make the team better in the long run. The other NBA owners know he is stuck too and are going to low ball him everytime. Hell don't be shocked if Kobe has an unKobe like season to force Buss's hand. I don't think LA can afford to wait 2 years and they will have to understand you can't get a Dirk for Kobe. Big Name for Big Name trades normally do not happen in the NBA.

The premium is ANY All-Star player and 1st Round Draft Picks.

OK, you still don't get it? Look at the trade for Kevin Garnett.

Co-Sign. The Lakers are stuck. If they think they can dictate the trade for Kobe then I got some swamp land in La to sell them. Kobe can become a malcontent and drive his price down if they don't trade him soon. Kobe holds all the cards in this deal. If Buss wants to get anything worthwhile in return he better start realizing he isn't going to get a big name super star in return. The rest of the NBA will wait until Kobe is free. He aint no threat as long as he is out there in L.A. so no rush to trade your whole team or your only SuperStar for him.

JR, you are right. With the no-trade clause in Kobe's contract, he is really a free agent from now until the end of his contract because he dictates where he wants to go. There is no way he will ACCEPT being traded to Dallas if Dirk is coming to LA? WHY WOULD HE? That puts him in the same position he is in right now.

Right now, Chicago and Dallas are the only places Kobe would accept being traded to.

Cuban needs to go into the locker room and tell everybody but Dirk to pack their SHat because Kobe is coming to town. Because everybody on that team is SUBJECT to being traded, except Dirk.

I think they should keep Jason Terry and Dirk. Having Terry and Kobe in the same back court would be lethal.

I agree. Send D. Harris, Josh, and somebody else with a couple picks. They need to keep the lil point guard Barroso (msp). He is like a lil Steve Nash.

Dallas can afford to ship off their 1st round picks because they are always at the bottom of the 1st round, which means they are lucky if they can even use that person. Josh was a late 1st rounder, but not every late 1st rounder is a Josh Howard.

I'd send Josh, Jet, Diop and a couple of draft picks. We still got Damp and Benga in the middle. Devin/Kobe would be my backcourt. We need somebody on this team with some nutz when we face teams like Golden State. I like Dirk but he folds.

From the Lakers standpoint, they HAVE to do it, becaue Kobe is gonna opt out next year and then they have nothing. They have to do it while he is still a hot commodity. Their best bet is doing something with Chicago who has a wealth of young athletic talent.

It ain't gonna happen this season without Dirk. Common sense. The value is too high right now. It drops significantly next year and in 2 years, but right now, no way the Lakers trade for less than a superstar. Dirk specifically when speaking of the Mavs.
