Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Break Up

I thought they would make it.....

The marriage of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and his model-turned-entrepreneur wife, Kimora Lee, has come to an end.

In a statement provided to The Associated Press on Friday, Simmons announced the pair had decided to break up after seven years of marriage. Rumors had swirled for the past week that a split was imminent. The couple have two young daughters.

"Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other," Simmons said. "We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."

Simmons is head of Rush Communications, but is perhaps better known as the co-founder of Def Jam Records and for his Phat Farm clothing line. In recent years, he has become more involved in politics, and helped to create the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.

Over the years, Kimora Lee Simmons has become almost as famous as her husband, thanks to her successful Baby Phat clothing line and her glamorous diva persona, which has been documented in numerous magazine spreads.

Although the pair have appeared at public events together in recent weeks, the statement said they had been separated for "some time," even though they were still living together.

I didn't.......not to be pessimistic about the situation....but the vast majority of Hollywood marriages never last.........:mrt:

I was about to say the same thing...she had a modeling gig..but that was about it...man yall should have heard Russ Parr this morning.
 
well, from all the reports out there, it seems she used him to make a name for herself...I don't believe there was ever true love there, so the divorce was just, in my book.

Exactly! But some black men do this all the time and then they sound shocked when the marriage doesn't last. He will still have to pay her because I am almost certain that he did not have her sign a prenup. We also have to remember that they have two children together...that within itself spells big bucks. She was too young for him from jump.
 



They probally had already planned this way before they were married. They are not telling you everything about their personal life. I remember reading somewhere a few years back,that that's how some star couples do it. You know they said in their statement that they are and will still be the best of friends. Man I wish they had the inet way back:D because I wish I could find that quote, it was either JET,EBONY or( SEPIA magazine,how many on here remember this magazine). Anyway,in a nutshell it was said that marriage has it's disadvantages for Hollywood stars that make a lot of money. I don't know how that can be but that's what was reported. Nethertheless I wish Russell and Kimona the best.
 
You people can blame me for the break-up. I should not have tossed Kimora Lee's salad and video taped it.

That's true, pbla...they both seem to be content w/the decision and there seems to be no animosity.

She got almost all she got because of him. Wouldnt be getting paid without him. These guys try to get these show pieces and this what happens. When they dont get them they stay married a long time. I guess you need to stay with high school or college sweethearts that was with your broke arse when you didnt have a dime.
 
The History of this relationship is interesting Russell started courting her when she was seventeen with her parents approval.:dizzy:
