Rumsfeld stepping down

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

What you have missed about Hillary is that she did well in upstate New York in her first run and even better in her second run. Upstate NY is very conservative. Its like upstate Pa., very conservative country. Rendell (Dem. Pa. Gov.) did as well as any dem has done in upstate Pa.

Besides fundraising.....................What ledgislation has she gotten passed.
Just what has she done?.....................Seriously?

But anyway.........................Demo's got the ball now.
They can't blame Repub's, "stolen elections", or anything else from this point on.

After 6 years of "talk"...................It's way past time to reveal their plan's to the public and "Put up or Shut Up" ..........................plain and simple.

:topic: I had the strangest dream last Night. I was watching the news and in Breaking News Bush and the Rubber Stamp Brigade had passed a bill that would allow him to run again. I woke up at about 12:30 and Bob Corker was giving his acceptance speech.:bawling: Man what a night.:scared: :scared:

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Yep.........might as well say Va is won too. Allen will not make up 8,000 votes in a recount. Now all the Demos need to do is pick the right Presidential candidate for 08.

As I have said for the umteenth time in this forum. In 40 years there have only been 2 Democratic presidents.

Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton!!

Both were MODERATES from the SOUTH!!!

If the Dems want a chance at the white house...they will follow that template.

This country will NEVER elect a Liberal as president....at least not at this point and time in history.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Y'all celebrate this victory and mock Donald Rummy - you think you've won something. Well, I say in the immortal words of Col. Nathan Jessup . . . .

Not too many Demo Liberals left outside of Ed Kennedy and he aint going to run. Hilary don't stand a chance even if she was a Republican........ The country is moderate.....Also if the Republicans nominate Rudy G.........they will lose the election as well. The South aint voting for no New Yorker. Especially one with a name like his. The Republicans best chance is Senator McCain. Both parties have weak candidates right now.

Please.........as a former active duty Naval Officer and current USNA Admissions Information Officer it was time for ole Rumsfeld to go home. He was not getting the job done and had lost respect from high ranking military officials. In the words of ICE CUBE.....TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY....:hat:

I'll buy that.
The DEMO's are gonna have to "weather the storm" of people howling for an immediate pullout or timetable.

Once they get settled into their offices, the reality of the job in front of them will set in.

Pulling out is not so "Black and White".
They could do it, but what comes when the last U.S. soilder leaves will be a bloodbath of different groups trying to seize or re-seize power.

Good point. Very good point. Of course you DO know that that will mean they've been waiting this whole thing out with a bombing here and there so as not to look inconspicuous...

That's why once the U.S. got in there, the NO-TIMETABLE thing really was not a DEMO/REPUB thing.

No Republican Senator has won the Presidency since Warren Harding in 1921. So if your analysis is correct, the Republicans are in bad shape for 2008. They don't have any strong candidates outside of the Senate.

Keep your eye on John Edwards and Evan Bayh.

Understand what I am saying......

Clinton and Carter were both "Governers", as was Bush.

The template for presidency has been the same for years.

White Male....
Moderate......
Elected at a State level (Senate/Governer)
Over 40 years old.....
RICH!!!!!

JFK and FDR wouldn't be the prototypical Democrat nowdays. The majority of the funding comes from the radical left. They skew the party left of center, which is why the Dems need to concentrate on the Southern Moderate Template.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Ol' boy that's replacing Rummy (gates: current prezy of txa&m bryan/college station) was or rather IS lol catching major heat as of late due to some of his appointments and decision making regarding the a&m school @ bryan/college station. :read: The aggies (alums) have been on his arse as of late. :)

Funny how the "good ol'" stuff continues to work @ this age in time. :)

I think you're minimizing the role of the opponent plays in this. No Southern moderate Dem would've beaten Regan in 80,84 or Nixon in 68. As of now, the strongest Republican candidate is 72 ys/o with 30+ years in the Senate. Not exactly an ideal candidate. McCain would have a difficult time with Hillary and would get creamed by Edwards or Bayh.

My point is, while your anaylsis may be technically true for the past 40 years(except Bill Clinton wasn't Rich), it doesn't really apply in 08. No sitting Pres or VP means this will be an election like none we've seen this generation.

One other thing, Democratic fundraising isn't dominated by the "radical" left. And if yesterdays elections proved anything, it's that moderates and populists have the biggest voice in Democratic circles.

She went upstate and talked to the conservative voters and addressed their concerns in the first election campaign. The national and NY reps thought they could just bash her as a liberal, they were wrong; she got enough conservative upstate support to win her first election. She has been such an effective senator, that she got more of their support in this election and help dragged other dems into the house and NY state government. Don?t believe the hype, Hillary through her senate years is a moderate (where most of the county sits). I can?t tell you specific bills, but she has worked to pass legislation with McCain, Trent Lott and other conservatives. She even worked with Newt on getting legislation passed. Don?t buy the hype, look at the record, not the spin that been put out there by the media.

We don?t know what happened with the election, because there is no way to audit the election. Maybe the dems stole it, regardless, the system should be auditable.

As a republican I am disgusted with what the reps have done with this war, foreign policy and the budget deficit. They have failed miserably, become corrupt and drunk with power.

I am not sure what plan you are talking about, but some plans have been released:
1. Raise the minimum wage
2. Audit some of the corruption from contractors from the Iraq war.
3. Provide checks and balances

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

If we had listened to Colin Powell who was the most senisble one there, we would not be having this discussion. You can't defeat someone who does not want us over there in the first place. Talk to some vets and they will tell you that the only way we will win the war is to blow up the entire country. But that what's happens when you stand behind someone like Bush who is lacking in the common sense department.

As for Rumsfled, it is good timing for him to step down after the Dems take over the House and Senate. If the GOP would have won, Rumsfled would still be there. What a joke, I am glad he is gone. :wavey:
