Rumsfeld stepping down

BgJag

Jaguar Nation
just reported on FoxNews.

http://www.foxnews.com/

Eric Ruff, the Pentagon press secretary, said he participated in meetings with Rumsfeld on Wednesday morning and heard no talk of changing war strategies or of Rumsfeld leaving his post. He said he did not know whether Rumsfeld has talked to President Bush about his future in light of the election results.

The focus of U.S. strategy for stabilizing Iraq remains the same, Ruff said: handing over more control to the Iraqi government and encouraging the leaders there to make political progress on reconciliation and resource sharing.

"They're moving and the (Iraqi) leadership is showing they are trying to get some things done," Ruff said.

EX-CIA CHIEF ROBERT GATES WILL SUCCCEED HIM.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Yep...I just saw the breaking news report on FOX. Things are falling apart in Washington for Bush. If the Democrats take Virginia and Montana (which we're leading) Bush will probably want to resign too.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Saw it on cnn.com too. It's about 2 years to late for the Republicans.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

The elections lastnight sent a resounding message to the White House.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

I'm watching y'all's President spewing his tasteless dialogue on the tube right now. The jackass party is running scared now!!!

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

It didn't take long for the first cabinet casualty to fall.

Now that the Senate is 1 seat away from Demo control also.
If Virginia go DEMO, ya'll think a whole-sale change in Bush's circle would come..................even though he's still a lame duck no matter what?

Yep.........might as well say Va is won too. Allen will not make up 8,000 votes in a recount. Now all the Demos need to do is pick the right Presidential candidate for 08.

And lock John Kerry in the same vault with duct tape over his mouth as Mondale.

Hope they don't F themselves in the next year doing stupid shat.

The conservative base, CHURCH, is bout to start rollin' away from Bush.
They gonna start on their next candidates now.

Republican upstart's are gonna be going at it with sledgehammers to get to the front.
Most of their "elders" got turned out and are not in the mix for the next election.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

This is a big win for Americans, and bigger for the Democrats. Perhaps now we can get stuff done in Washington. America spoke last night to the White House and to the Republicans. Not one Democrat incumbant House member or Senate member lost their spot, and the Republicans took major losses in both houses in congress. Now Rumsfeld is gone. Checks and balances are now being set in place. No more rubber stamping/do nothing congress. As said before, America sent a message to Bush last night to get something done. With him having only 2 years left, he is pressed to get something accomplished in his legacy. The last two years are usually the ones where the President works the most diligently.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

I've always thought that soon to be ex - Sen. Allen(not McCain) was the Republican's strongest hope for the presidency and the overall front-runner. Now that he's out it's wide open for both sides. Obama and Hillary are favorites but they aren't ideal candidates. A guy like Sen. Bayh(Indiana) and John Edwards are pretty good bets to make some noise in the primary. Hillary would make for an exciting but nerve-racking election for both sides.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

Hastert is not going for the leadership position as minority leader in the house. This should be interesting.

I wonder if he knows that he might be taken down becuase of the Foley problem?

Obama better learn from Ford, white people in the south wont vote for you and the whitehouse cant be won without some help from the south.

Beating Hillary Clinton in that "up-scale" district of NY is like trying to beat Bennie Thompson here in the Mississippi delta..............IMPOSSIABLE.

They didn't even bother to push a candidate.

What you have missed about Hillary is that she did well in upstate New York in her first run and even better in her second run. Upstate NY is very conservative. Its like upstate Pa., very conservative country. Rendell (Dem. Pa. Gov.) did as well as any dem has done in upstate Pa.

Re: Rumsfled stepping down

It is funny watching fox news - they are almost crying. I am sure by tomorrow, they will have their act together.
